About the journal
The focus of this journal is "understanding the nature, politics and history of modern states and societies especially evaluating their effects on human well-being." CRITICAL REVIEW focuses on theoretical and historical issues rather than specific policies. Most issues concentrate on a particular theme, such as politics and economics, libertarianism, or nature and culture. Each issue contains two to four research articles or essays, well-written and extensively documented. Articles explore topics such as the media in popular democracy, the origins of war, and pluralism after liberalism. One or more review essays are included in most issues, along with "Exchanges," a section of responses to previous articles.
