About the journal
Geoarchaeology: An International Journal
Geoarchaeology is an interdisciplinary journal published bimonthly. It presents work at the methodological and theoretical interface between archaeology and the earth sciences and includes within its scope: interdisciplinary work focusing on understanding archaeological sites, their natural context, and particularly the aspects of site formation processes. Manuscripts should explore the interrelationship between archaeology and the various disciplines within the earth sciences, such as: geology, geography, pedology, climatology, oceanography, geochemistry, geochronology, and geophysics. They may also deal with biological aspects such as faunal and botanical remains. The journal also welcomes manuscripts concerning the examination of material objects by analytical techniques, for example, ceramics, metals, flints, plasters, and cements.
Instructions to Authors
Manuscripts must be original works not currently under consideration elsewhere for publication. Submitted manuscripts must be typed, double-spaced on one side of nonerasable, good quality white bond, 81/2 x 11" paper with a left-justified margin of one inch. Each manuscript must include a 150-word abstract, text, references, tables, and figures. Number all pages through the reference section, beginning with the abstract. Although exceptions will be considered, the text should not exceed 30 typewritten pages. ONE ORIGINAL AND THREE XEROX-TYPE PHOTOCOPIES (INCLUDING FIGURES) ARE TO BE SUBMITTED. Receipt of manuscripts will be acknowledged by the editor-in-chief. All manuscripts will be reviewed by the editors and by two (2) readers. If review remarks are such that substantial changes are necessary before a manuscript is acceptable for publication, the revised manuscript may be re-reviewed, preferably by the original readers, before it is accepted for publication by the editor-in-chief.
No article can be published unless accompanied by a signed publication agreement, which serves as a transfer of copyright from author to publisher. A publication agreement may be obtained from the editor or the publisher. A copy of the publication agreement appears in most issues of the journal. Only original papers will be accepted and copyright in published papers will be vested in the publisher. It is the author's responsibility to obtain written permission to reproduce material that has appeared in another publication. |
