About the journal

Library & Information Science Research, a cross-disciplinary and refereed journal, focuses on the research process in library and information science as well as research findings and, where applicable, their practical applications and significance.

Instructions to Authors

Manuscripts of 5000-6000 words in length must be submitted through the Library and Infomation Sciene Research online submission and review Web site External link http://ees.elsevier.com/libinf. Authors are requested to submit the text, tables, and artwork in electronic form to this address. In an accompanying letter, authors should state that the manuscript, or parts of it, have not been and will not be submitted elsewhere for publication. Submission items include a cover letter, the manuscript (including title page, abstract, manuscript text, references, and table/figure legends), tables, and figures. Revised manuscripts should also be accompanied by a unique file (separate from the covering letter) with responses to reviewers' comments. The preferred order of files is as follows: cover letter, suggested reviewers, response to reviews (revised manuscripts only), manuscript file(s), table(s), figure(s). Files should be labeled with appropriate and descriptive file names (e.g., SmithText.doc, Fig1.eps, Table3.doc). Upload text, tables and graphics as separate files. Do not import figures or tables into the text document. Complete instructions for electronic artwork submission can be found on the Author Gateway, accessible through the journal home page. Authors who are unable to provide an electronic version or have other circumstances that prevent online submission must contact the Editorial Office prior to submission to discuss alternate options.
Footnotes. An address for directing correspondence and an e-mail address should be provided as the first (unnumbered) footnote. Other footnotes should be used only if essential to the text. If used, they should be marked with consecutive Arabic numerals.
Headings and Subheadings should be included to make the paper more readable.
Spelling and Terminology. Standard United States spelling will be used throughout. All acronyms and abbreviations should be spelled out when first used in the text. Authors who require information about language editing and copyediting services pre- and post- submission please visit External link http://ees.elsevier.com/wps/find/authorshome.authors/languagepolishing or contact authorsupport@elsevier.com for more information. Please note Elsevier neither endorses nor takes responsibility for any products, goods or services offered by outside vendors through our services or in any advertising.
Exclusivity. Papers must be neither previously published nor submitted elsewhere simultaneously.
Copyright. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission from the copyright owner (usually this is the publisher) to use any quotation, illustration, or table from another source.
References. Manuscripts must conform to the fifth edition (2001) of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. The only exception is: unpublished references should not be treated as reference notes, but listed in the same format as published references. All references appearing in the bibliography section must be cited in the text of the manuscript. All references must be closely checked to determine that dates, spelling, and other information are consistent and correct. The names of all authors should be given in the list of references and "et al." used only after the first mention in the text. Several examples follow:
Journal article Weick, K. E. (1989). Theory construction as disciplined imagination. Academy of Management Review, 14, 516-531. (Note: If each issue in a volume begins with page 1, then the issue number should be given, as 14(1), 34-52.)
