About the journal
Focusing on urban research and policy analysis, the Journal of Urban Affairs is among the most widely cited journals in the field. Published for the Urban Affairs Association, the journal explores issues of relevance to both scholars and practitioners, including:
- Theoretical, conceptual, or methodological approaches to metropolitan and community problems
- Empirical research that advances the understanding of society
- Strategies for social change in the urban milieu
- Innovative urban policies and programs
- Issues of current interest to those who work in the field and those who study the urban and regional environment.
Varied perspectives and depth of analysis have made the Journal of Urban Affairs one of the fastest growing journals in urban studies.
Instructions to Authors
Submitting Publications to the Journal of Urban Affairs
The Journal of Urban Affairs is a quarterly publication that is committed to publishing manuscripts that make substantial contributions to the field of urban affairs.
The Editor invites manuscripts that:
- develop theoretical, conceptual, or methodological approaches to metropolitan and community problems;
- present results of empirical research that advance the understanding of society;
- describe and evaluate strategies for social change in the urban milieu;
- explore innovative policies and programs that have clear implications for future action; and
- analyze issues of current interest to those who work and study the urban and regional environment.
All manuscripts will receive blind review. Therefore, authors should omit identifying material, using only the title and abstract as identification. A separate cover sheet must accompany each manuscript and should list authors, their affiliations, and short biographical sketches.
Five copies of the papers should be submitted to:
