About the journal

The Annual Review of Immunology, in publication since 1983, covers the significant developments in the field of Immunology, including antigen structure, processing, presentation, and activation mechanisms; immunoglobulins and B cell receptors; T lymphocyte and NK cell receptors; lymphocyte development and differentiation; tolerance; regulation of the immune response; mucosal immunity; cytokines; cytotoxic cells; phagocytosis and inflammation; autoimmunity; immunodeficiency; allergy; immunology of infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS and other retroviral infections; vaccines; and tumor immunology.

This journal is ideal for active researchers in immunology and related fields, post-doctoral fellows and graduate students as well as teachersof immunology.

The Annual Review of Immunology is ranked #1 by impact factor of the 115 Immunology publications assessed by the ISI?Journal Citation Reports (JCR?; it has ranked first out of all scientific journals in 7 of the last 10 years. It is available online and in print."

Manuscript Checklist

PLEASE INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING WITH YOUR SUBMISSION

Required Elements

  •  Title Page: full article title, author(s) name(s) and affiliation(s) including email(s), corresponding author contact information

  •  Article Table of Contents: listing all 1st and 2nd level headings

  •  Key Words: as many as 6, not already in title

  • Abstract: 150 words at maximum

  • Headings: clearly formatted throughout text

  • Figures: color as well as black & white, each with own legend clearly labeled; separate file for each figure, do not integrate within text. Provide a PDF file of all final figures submitted. Obtain any necessary permissions for use

  • Tables: either all at end of article, following Literature Cited, or submitted as separate file

  • Literature Cited: 150 references at maximum formatted per series?specifications (see Author Handbook for details)

  • PDF file of final manuscript, including all figures, tables, references, and optional elements (below)

 

Optional Elements

  • Abbreviations/Acronyms list: spell out up to 10 most important acronyms used in text; insert below Literature Cited
  • Key Terms/Definitions list: as many as 10 major terms used in text, each term limited to 20 words max; insert below Literature Cited
  • Summary Points list: highlight the central points of your review (as many as 8); insert above Acknowledgments and/or Literature Cited
  • Future Issues list: note where research may be headed (as many as 8); insert above Acknowledgments and/or Literature Cited
  • Annotated References: brief (15 words max) explanation of citation’s importance (as many as 10); insert below Literature Cited
  • Related Resources list: up to 10 references, not listed in Literature Cited, to materials (websites, articles, animations) that may be of interest to readers; insert below Literature Cited

Helpful Notes for Online Submission

  1. If possible, please compress each file using, for example, WinZip, Stuffit, GZip. Then upload.
  2. Whenever uploading more than five files, we recommend compressing all contents into a single folder and then uploading.
  3. Always include a PDF file of your final manuscript, including figures and tables.
  4. If uploading revisions, please again include a PDF file of revisited text, figures, and/or tables.
