About the journal

Social Science Information is a major international forum for the analysis and debate of trends and approaches in social science research and teaching.
Publishing articles in both English and French, the journal offers a unique window on research currently taking place internationally and in collaboration with the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme in Paris.
Social Science Information is cross-disciplinary, presenting research from a broad range of perspectives, including:
- anthropology
- sociology
- psychology
- philosophy
- political science
- economics
Social Science Information aims to present new areas of study, focusing on theoretical debates, methodology and comparative and cross-cultural research. The following specialized sections regularly appear:
- Trends and Developments
- Theory and Methods
- Trend Report
- Biology and Social Life
- Rationality and Society
- Studies of Science
The journal also regularly publishes Symposia on specific themes and theme-oriented special issues. It wishes to encourage submission of trend reports.
"What I particularly value in Social Science Information is its sheer range, high-quality eclecticism and unpredictability. You can count on it to take you into new by-ways and across disciplines in a spirit of rigorous intellectual generalism." Professor Philip Schlesinger, Director, Stirling Media Research Institute, University of Stirling, UK
"Social Science Information gives the reader a wide overview of socialscientific research in various European countries through papers on topics dealing as well with the sociology of everyday life as with social structure or the history of the social sciences " Raymond Boudon, Paris, Académie des sciences morales et politiques, France

Peer Review
Social Science Information operates a strictly blinded peer review process in which the reviewer' s name is withheld from the author and, the author' s name from the reviewer. The reviewer may at their own discretion opt to reveal their name to the author in their review but our standard policy practice is for both identities to remain concealed. Peer Review Process: Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two referees (most generally three). All manuscripts are reviewed as rapidly as possible, and an editorial decision is generally reached within 12 to 24 weeks of submission. All manuscripts are reviewed initially by the Editors and only those papers that meet the scientific and editorial standards of the journal, and fit within the aims and scope of the journal, will be sent for external review.
Authors will receive electronic offprints of their article and a complimentary journal copy. A maximum of five journals will be supplied for multi-authored articles.
English Language Editing Services: Please click here for information on professional English language editing services recommended by SAGE.
If you wish your article to be freely available online immediately upon publication (as some funding bodies now require), you can opt for it to be included in SAGE Open subject to payment of a publication fee. Manuscript submission and refereeing procedure is unchanged. On acceptance of your article, you will be asked to let SAGE know directly if you are choosing SAGE Open. For further information, please
