About the journal

The Journal of Graph Theory is devoted to a variety of topics in graph theory, such as structural results about graphs, graph algorithms with theoretical emphasis, and discrete optimization on graphs. The scope of the journal also includes related areas in combinatorics and the interaction of graph theory with other mathematical sciences

Instructions to Authors
Disk Submission Instructions
Wiley's Journal Styles and EndNote

Submission

Authors should submit their papers via e-mail to the Editorial Office at jgt@uvm.edu. Authors are encouraged to submit papers using LaTeX. For more information, see Disk Submission Instructions. Papers that are submitted as hard copy: Send one copy of the paper to Dan Archdeacon, Editorial Office of JGT, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Vermont, 16 Colchester Avenue, Burlington, VT 05401-1455 USA.

Acceptance of a paper for publication will depend on the interest of the topic to the readership of the journal, the level of research, and clarity of exposition and motivation.

Form of Manuscript:

The full name, affiliation, and mailing address of each author must accompany the contribution. All articles are to be submitted in English and each must be accompanied by a brief descriptive abstract. Symbols should not be used in the title. We strongly request authors to append all omitted details for the benefit of the referees to facilitate the refereeing process.

Figures should be professionally prepared and submitted in a form suitable for reproduction. Figures should be submitted electronically in TIFF or EPS format, resolution 300 dpi or higher. Computer generated graphs are acceptable only if they have been printed with a good quality laser printer.

All color figures will be reproduced in full color in the online edition of the journal at no cost to authors. Authors are requested to pay the cost of reproducing color figures in print. Authors are encouraged to submit color illustrations that highlight the text and convey essential scientific information. For best reproduction, bright, clear colors should be used. Dark colors against a dark background do not reproduce well; please place your color images against a white background wherever possible. Please contact Ethan Pavlo at (201) 748-6714 or e-mail: epavlo@wiley.com for further information.

Wiley's Journal Styles and EndNote
EndNote is a software product that we recommend to our journal authors to help simplify and streamline the research process. Using EndNote's bibliographic management tools, you can search bibliographic databases, build and organize your reference collection, and then instantly output your bibliography in any Wiley journal style.
Download Reference Style for this Journal: If you already use EndNote, you can
download the reference style for this journal.
How to Order: To learn more about EndNote, or to purchase your own copy of EndNote,
Technical Support: If you need assistance using EndNote, contact
endnote@isiresearchsoft.com, or visit www.endnote.com/support.

References: The references should be numbered in alphabetical order, with all journals abbreviated as in Mathematics into Type. Reference citations in the text are indicated by Arabic numerals in square brackets [1], [2],.... References should be styled in accordance with the reference style of AMS (American Mathematical Society). The forms of a typical reference to a journal article [1], an article in a book or conference proceedings [2], or a book [3] are as follows.

No article can be published unless accompanied by a signed publication agreement, which serves as a transfer of copyright from author to publisher. The signed agreement should be sent to the JGT Editorial Office. A publication agreement may be obtained from the editor or the publisher. A copy of the publication agreement appears in most issues of the journal. Only original papers will be accepted and copyright in published papers will be vested in the publisher. It is the author's responsibility to obtain written permission to reproduce material that has appeared in another publication.

Guidelines for Electronic Submission

Authors are strongly encouraged to deliver the final, accepted version of their manuscript on disk.

  • Storage Medium. 3?inch diskette in IBM MS-DOS or Macintosh format.
  • Software. LaTeX is preferred.
  • All TeX files will be accepted. However, if you prefer to use the macros created by the publisher they are available via the Internet on the John Wiley & Sons, Inc. FTP server. The address is: ftp.wiley.com/public/journals/tex/graphth. Log in as anonymous and use your e-mail address as a password. For more information see the README file in the graphth subdirectory.
  • Illustrations. Electronic illustrations are encouraged, but not required. Submit each article's illustrations in a separate directory on the same disk as the article. TIFF and EPS files or native application files are accepted. For grey scale and color figure submissions please contact us for more detailed instructions.
  • File names. Submit each journal article as one single file. Each file should be named using your last name (not to exceed 8 letters). If your last name exceeds eight letters it should be truncated to fit.
  • Label the disk with your name, the title of your article, the file name, and the program used.
  • The disk must be accompanied by hard copy printout.
Proofs and Reprints

Proofs:Authors will receive proofs which should be corrected and returned to the publisher within 48 hours of receipt. No substantial new material may be inserted in the text at the proofreading stage.

Electronic Proofing: In order to expedite the publication and on-line posting of articles in Wiley InterScience, the Journal of Graph Theory now offers electronic proofing. Corresponding authors with e-mail addresses will be sent page proofs (and paperwork, such as reprint order forms) in pdf format via e-mail. Please follow the instructions in the e-mail; contact names and numbers are given for questions, problems, or if an author wishes to receive a paper proof. A fax cover form with the Production Editor's information is also provided for authors to fax their corrections.

Reprints: Twenty-five complimentary reprints (per article) are sent to the author receiving proofs. Additional reprints may be ordered only with the corrected proofs.
