Instructions to Authors
The Journal of Neuroscience Research publishes novel research results that will advance our understanding of the development, functions and diseases of the nervous system, using molecular, cellular and systems approaches. JNR features full-length papers, mini-reviews, and commentaries. All new manuscripts and correspondence regarding editorial matters should be addressed to the Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Jean de Vellis.

Submission of Manuscripts
All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Neuroscience Research must be submitted solely to this journal, may not have been published in any part or form in another publication of any type, professional or lay, and become the property of the publisher. Upon acceptance of a manuscript for publication, the author will be requested to sign an agreement transferring copyright to the publisher, who reserves copyright. No published material may be reproduced or published elsewhere without the written permission of the publisher and the author. The journal will not be responsible for the loss of manuscripts at any time. All statements in, or omissions from, published manuscripts are the responsibility of the authors who will assist the editors by reviewing proofs before publication. No page charges will be levied against an author or institution for publication in this journal.
Material submitted for publication is to be prepared in accordance with the Instructions detailed below. Authors must submit manuscripts in disk form according to the guidelines given in the Instructions (please see below). Abbreviated instructions are as follows. Authors can choose to submit in one of two ways:
(1) Four copies and a disk of the manuscript with original illustrations to the Editor-in-Chief. Authors can suggest the name of the most appropriate Associate Editor to serve as Handling Editor. (2) Three copies of the manuscript with original illustrations to one of the Associate Editors, and the fourth copy and disk to the Editor-in-Chief.
The goal of JNR is to provide a fair, rigorous and rapid review of all manuscripts. The disk is used to expedite the selection of the referees and shorten the time to publication after acceptance. To help ensure appropriate expert reviews the authors are urged to provide up to four potential referees (including address, phone, fax and E-mail). On the disk, please include a separate text file containing (1) the cover letter with the list of suggested referees and (2) the title page, abstract, and references.
Papers should not exceed 30 manuscript pages including tables and figures. Color illustrations are encouraged for publication. The charge for color pages will be $500 each. In hardship cases, one free color page may be requested by contacting the Editor-in-Chief. Availability is limited. Authors in Japan, please note: Wiley-Japan can provide authors in Japan with a list of recommended services to check and improve the English in their papers BEFORE SUBMISSION. Please contact Masayo Kobayashi in the Wiley-Japan office by Fax 81 (03) 3556 9763 or e-mail editorial@wiley.co.jp for more information, indicating the Wiley journal to which you would like to submit.
Focused, critical Mini-Reviews of forefront areas of neuroscience will be considered for publication in JNR. The total length, including any figures and references, should not normally exceed 12 manuscript pages. Submit four copies and a disk of the mini-review with original illustrations by courier or mail to the Handling Editor, Dr. Steve Pfeiffer.
