About the journal
Aims and scope
Incorporating Acta Paediatrica Belgica, Helvetica Paediatrica Acta, Acta Paediatrica Hungarica
The European Journal of Pediatrics is one of the world's leading publications, covering the field of pediatrics in all its aspects. It was founded in 1910 by H. Finkelstein, L. Langstein, M. v. Pfaundler, C. v. Pirquet, and B. Salge as the Zeitschrift für Kinderheilkunde.
Since then, the Journal has been internationally recognized for making important developments in pediatrics available to a broad public readership by applying a swift and fair reviewing system.
Since 1997 the European Journal of Pediatrics has also been available in electronic form at springerlink.com. Electronic access to the journal’s website has grown continuously. There are presently 270,000 hits per month.
Its short publication times demonstrate the commitment of the editors and the publisher to speedy publication of new developments in pediatrics: electronic publication takes place two months after the acceptance of a contribution and publication in print only three months thereafter.
The editors encourage submission of original papers, reviews, research letters, and letters from the following subject areas: cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, growth and development, hematology and oncology, immunology and allergology, infectious diseases, intensive care medicine, medical genetics and metabolic diseases, neonatology, nephrology and urology, neuropediatrics, nutrition, pneumology, preventive pediatrics and epidemiology, and psychology.
Manuscripts submitted for publication must contain a statement to the effect that all human studies have been reviewed by the appropriate ethics committee and have therefore been performed in accordance with the ethical standards laid down in an appropriate version of the 1964 Declaration of Helsinki. It should also be stated clearly in the text that all persons gave their informed consent prior to their inclusion in the study. Details that might disclose the identity of the subjects under study should be omitted.
Reports of animal experiments must state that the "Principles of laboratory animal care" (NIH publication No. 86-23, revised 1985) were followed, as well as specific national laws (e.g. the current version of the German Law on the Protection of Animals) where applicable.
The editors reserve the right to reject manuscripts that do not comply with the above-mentioned requirements. The author will be held responsible for false statements or for failure to fulfil the above-mentioned requirements.
Manuscripts and correspondence concerning editorial matters should be addressed to one of the editors listed on the inside title page and not to the associate or contributing editors.
Instructions to Authors
Manuscript submission

Manuscript Submission
Submission of a manuscript implies: that the work described has not been published before; that it is not under consideration for publication anywhere else; that its publication has been approved by all co-authors, if any, as well as by the responsible authorities ?tacitly or explicitly ?at the institute where the work has been carried out. The publisher will not be held legally responsible should there be any claims for compensation.
Permissions
Authors wishing to include figures, tables, or text passages that have already been published elsewhere are required to obtain permission from the copyright owner(s) for both the print and online format and to include evidence that such permission has been granted when submitting their papers. Any material received without such evidence will be assumed to originate from the authors.
Online Submission
Authors should submit their manuscripts online. Electronic submission substantially reduces the editorial processing and reviewing times and shortens overall publication times. Please follow the hyperlink “Submit online?on the right and upload all of your manuscript files following the instructions given on the screen.
