Instructions to Authors
SCOPE
Periodica Polytechnica is a publisher of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. It publishes seven international journals (Architecture, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Social and Management Sciences, Transportation Engineering). The journals have free electronic versions.
INITIAL SUBMISSION
Manuscripts should be submitted in English to Editor-in-Chief of the periodical in printable electronic form (possibly PDF). Manuscripts are accepted for review on the understanding that the same work has not been and will not be either published or submitted elsewhere and that all the authors have given their approval for the submission of the paper.
ELECTRONIC SUBMISSION
Periodica Polytechnica uses the typesetting system LaTeX. Therefore, authors are asked to submit their contribution in LaTeX after acceptance of the manuscript in an e-mail attachment. If the authors use other typesetting or word processing system, we advise them to save and send the material in different formats (e.g. DOC, RTF, TXT,...) for easier convertibility.
MANUSCRIPTS
A correctly compiled manuscript should contain the following items: title; if it is long, an abbreviated title for running head on the odd pages, consisting no more than 50 characters (including spaces) and having no abbreviations; name(s) of author(s); affiliation and addresses (institution, firm, mail address, e-mail, URL); an informative abstract of not more than 150 words; 3 keywords. Since the abstract and keywords of an accepted paper will be disseminated electronically, it should make minimal use of mathematical symbols and should not contain displayed formulas or any reference to the article. The abstract and keywords will be offered for databases and Internet search engines. A separate text file must be attached to the manuscript with the title and the names of authors and with the name, mail address, e-mail address, office phone and fax numbers of the contact author.

RULES FOR LaTeX PAPERS
Please use the standard article style with the standard packages (array, amsmath, graphicx,...). Avoid visual editing to improve the appearance of the manuscript like adding extra space, forced page or line break. Please keep formatting macros to a minimum, to make conversions of files more accurate. Please use standard LaTeX commands for sectioning, citation, referencing (like \section, \cite, \ref) and standard LaTeX environments (theorem-like environments, enumerate or itemize environments...) wherever possible.
MARKING OF NON-LaTeX PAPERS
Greek, ghotic, or script letters, rare mathematical or other symbols should be identified or even explained if necessary in the margin. Scalar quantities and variables are to be denoted by italics, vectors by lower case bold face letters, matrices by bold capitals. Dimensions (mm, Ohm,...), standard functions and operators (sin, ln,...) are to be typeset by upward Roman typefaces (not in italics). Emphasized words can be distinguished by italic setting.
GRAPHICS
The authors are encouraged to submit all figures also in separate file. Drawings should be saved into a vector graphics file and not in pixeloriented format. PDF or encapsulated PostScript (EPS) are prefered. Photos, screenshots and other pixeloriented pictures should be saved in one of the standard graphics formats (preferebly JPEG). For embedding in LaTeX use graphicx macro package.
BIBLIOGRAPHY
Bibliography should be carefully edited and alphabetized by the last names of the first author. In LaTeX use amsrefs package (included in most TeX-distribution) or BibTeX with the plain style. Please, add the DOI number if it exists.
COPYRIGHT
It is the policy of Periodica Polytechnica to retain the copyright of the papers in order to protect the interest of its authors, and to facilitate the appropriate reuse of the material by others. At the same time Periodica Polytechnica doesn't restrict the author in the redistribution of his/her own work if the exact bibliographic data are attached to it. This means that the author may post the material on his/her own server, may use the material in education, and may send the work to preprint servers or databases, if it is clearly signed that the paper is submitted to/accepted by/published and copyrighted by Periodica Polytechnica.
