About the journal

Journal of Cutaneous Pathology publishes manuscripts relevant to diseases of the skin in a broad sense, with the aims of advancing scientific knowledge regarding dermatopathology and enhancing the communication between clinical practitioners and research scientists. Original scientific manuscripts on diagnostic and experimental cutaneous pathology are invited. Clinicopathologic studies will be given high priority. Manuscripts based on light and electron microscopy, histochemistry, microbiology, biochemistry, immunology, pharmacology, tissue culture, embryology, molecular biology, and genetics are welcome, provided they advance the science of cutaneous pathology. Publication time will be kept as short as possible, ensuring that articles will be quickly available to all interested in this speciality.

Electronic Submission of Manuscripts
Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts electronically via http://jcp.manuscriptcentral.com. No hard copies are necessary. The review process will be entirely electronic-based and will therefore facilitate faster reviewing for these manuscripts. Electronic manuscripts should be submitted as a rich text document (RTF format), and the figures submitted as JPEG, GIF, TIF or EPS file. Full instructions for electronic submission are given at the above website.

Manuscripts, including tables and figures, should be sent in triplicate. Please state e-mail address of corresponding author. If possible, a disc should be supplied with the hard copy, double-spaced throughout, and the format/system used should be stated. Authors submitting a paper do so on the understanding that the work has not been published before, is not being considered for publication elsewhere and has been read and approved by all authors. The submission of the manuscript by the authors means that the authors automatically agree to assign exclusive copyright to Blackwell Munksgaard if and when the manuscript is accepted for publication.

Copyright Assignment Form

The work shall not be published elsewhere in any language without the written consent of the publisher. The articles published in this journal are protected by copyright, which covers translation rights and the exclusive right to reproduce and distribute all of the articles printed in the journal. No material published in the journal may be stored on microfilm or videocassettes or in electronic databases and the like or reproduced photographically without the prior written permission of the publisher.

Authors must send one newly formatted 3.5-inch diskette containing an exact copy of the manuscript with tables and figures in a separate file (FIFF, EPS or JPEG). Three (3) printed, double-spaced copies including figures and tables must accompany the disk. The paper manuscript and the file on the disk must be the same, but do not double space the disk version. Label the disk clearly with the journal name, author(s) and title, file content, computer system (DOS, Windows or Macintosh), word processor (Word, WordPerfect etc.) and version used. Do not convert your manuscript to ASCII format. Include only the files corresponding to the manuscript.

Papers should be divided into the following sections:

  • Title page with a running title (not to exceed 40 characters), with author's names, affiliations, and address and telephone and FAX numbers of the corresponding author,
  • Abstract - (not exceeding 200 words); Original Article abstracts should be divided into sections entitled: Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
  • Introduction,
  • Material and methods,
  • Results,
  • Discussion,
  • Acknowledgements - (if any), and
  • References

    References
References should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text. Identify references in text, tables and legends by Arabic numerals (in parentheses). All authors cited, and only these, must be listed at the end of the paper.

    Key Words
Four to eight key words for indexing purposes must be given.

    Illustrations
Printed illustrations must not exceed the Journal page dimension of 16.7 x 23 cm. Single-column figures must not exceed 8 x 23 cm. Illustrations must be submitted as glossy black and white prints showing good detail. Conversion of good quality transparencies to large format black and white negatives can produce excellent black and white reproduction of clinical illustrations. Color should not ordinarily be used to document routine hematoxylin-eosin sections. Photographs to appear in a block should be submitted mounted. Micrographs should be planned so that they can be reproduced without reduction. Any lines, numbers or lettering should be in black India ink. Text on the figures should be in capitals. Graphs can be plotted on plain white or blue squared paper; grid lines that are to show should be inked in black. Color illustrations: Color illustrations in small numbers may be accepted free of charge at the discretion of the Editor. Otherwise the author must pay the cost price for color reproduction and printing of the illustrations at a rate to be quoted by the publisher. One or two color illustrations on one page will range from USD 625 to USD 725. Four to six illustrations on a page from USD 1000 to USD 1200. Decisions regarding free color illustrations will be made at the time of acceptance of the article.
