About the journal
|
Glycoconjugate Journal publishes articles and reviews on all areas concerned with:
- function, composition, structure, biosynthesis, degradation, interactions, recognition and chemo-enzymatic and synthesis of glycoconjugates (glycoproteins, glycolipids, oligosaccharides, polysaccharides and proteoglycans),
- biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, immunology and cell biology to glycoconjugates,
- aspects related to disease processes (immunological, inflammatory, arthritic infections, metabolic disorders, malignancy, neurological disorders),
- structural and functional glycomics,
- glycoimmunology,
- glycovaccines,
- organic synthesis of glycoconjugates and the development of methodologies if biologically relevant,
- glycosylation changes in disease if focused on either the discovery of a novel disease marker or the improved understanding of some basic pathological mechanism,
- articles on the effects of toxicological agents (alcohol, tobacco, narcotics, environmental agents) on glycosylation,
- and the use of glycotherapeutics.
Glycoconjugate Journal is the official journal of the International Glycoconjugate Organization, which is responsible for organizing the biennial International Symposia on Glycoconjugates. |
Instructions to Authors
Authors are encouraged to submit high quality, original work that has not appeared in, nor is under consideration by, other journals. Papers, which have previously appeared in conference proceedings, will be considered, and this should be so indicated at the time of submission.
ONLINE MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION
Kluwer Academic Publishers now offers authors, editors and reviewers of the Glycoconjugate Journal the use of our fully web-enabled online manuscript submission and review system. To keep the review time as short as possible, we request authors to submit manuscripts online to the journal’s editorial office. Our online manuscript submission and review system offers authors the option to track the progress of the review process of manuscripts in real time. Manuscripts should be submitted to: http://GLYC.edmgr.com
The online manuscript submission and review system for the Glycoconjugate Journal offers easy and straightforward log-in and submission procedures. This system supports a wide range of submission file formats: for manuscripts- Word, WordPerfect, RTF, TXT, and LaTex; for figures- TIFF, GIF, JPEG, EPS, PPT, and Postscript. PDF is not an acceptable format.

Manuscript Style
1. The manuscript must be in English. Use an informative title and include an abstract of 100 to 250 words. This should include a statement of the problem, a summary of the methods used, a description of the results obtained and ending with the final conclusions.
2. Enclose from three to five keywords with each manuscript.
3. Provide a list of all footnotes, beginning with the "Affiliation of the authors" and continuing with numbered footnotes. Footnotes are printed at the end of the article before the references. Acknowledgment of financial support may be given if appropriate.
4. In-text citations for references should be numbered in brackets, [1]. References should appear in a separate bibliography at the end of the paper with items referred to by numerals and listed in alphabetical order. Journal titles should be abbreviated according to Index Medicus. References should be complete and numbered, in the following style:
Style for papers: [1] Author(s) last name followed by initials for each author, Article title, publication name in italics, volume number in boldface, page numbers, and year in parentheses. For example: Doe JX, Smith WT, Wang T, Article title, Glycoconjugate J 37, 2961-75 (1942).
Style for books: [1] Author(s) last name followed by initials, title of book in italics, publisher, city, year, page or chapter number. Publisher, city and year should all be enclosed in a set of parentheses. For example: Bill RM, Revers L, Wilson IBH, Protein Glycosylation (Kluwer Academic Publishers, Boston, 1998), p. 258.
Style for articles in proceedings or edited book: Author(s) last name followed by initials, Article title. In Book Title in italics, editor(s) last name followed by initials, publisher, city, year and page. Publisher, city and year should all be enclosed in a set of parentheses. For example: Bülter T, Elling L, Enzymatic synthesis of nucleotide sugars. In Glycotechnology, edited by Berger EG, Clausen H, Cummings RD (Kluwer Academic Publishers, Boston, 1999), pp. 67-79.
5. Type mathematical expressions exactly as they should appear in print. Use appropriate typeface. It will be assumed that letters in displayed equations are to be set in italic type unless noted otherwise. All letter symbols in text discussion should be italic or boldface. Indicate best breaks for equations in case they will not fit on one line.
Illustration Style
1. Illustrations should be sharp, noise-free, and of good contrast. We regret that we cannot provide drafting or art service.
2. Each figure should be mentioned in the text and numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals. Specify the desired location of each figure in the text. Each figure must have a caption. Proper style for captions, e.g., "Fig. 1. Construction of the recombinant C2TF expression plasmid. B, Bam HI site; E, Eco RI site; Poly, poly-His tag sequence region; T7, T7 tag sequence region; and T, termination point of bovine C2TF ORF."
3. Number each table consecutively using Arabic numerals. Please label any material that can be typeset as a table reserving the term "figure" for material that has been drawn. Specify the desired location of each table in the text. Type a brief title above each table.
4. All lettering should be large enough to permit legible reduction.
