About the journal
This journal, which now publishes eight times a year, features an international editorial board, offers refereed papers that span the entire broad field of electromagnetics and serves as an exceptional reference sources of permanent archival value. Included in this wide ranging scope of materials are developments in electromagnetic theory, high frequency techniques, antennas and randomes, arrays, numerical techniques, scattering and diffraction, materials, and printed circuits. The journal also serves as a forum for deliberations on innovations in the field. Additionally, special issues give more in-depth coverage to topics of immediate importance.
Instructions to Authors
Submission of Manuscripts
Submit three copies of the complete manuscript to the Editor-in-Chief: Dr. H. Y. David Yang, 1020 SEO 851 S. Morgan St., Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering, U. of Illinois at Chicago, Chicago, IL 60607, USA. E-mail: hyang@ece.uic.edu
Authors are strongly encouraged to submit manuscripts on disk. The disk should be prepared using MS Word or WordPerfect and should be clearly labeled with the authors¡¯ names, file name, and software program. A hardcopy printout that exactly matches the disk must be supplied. Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher.
All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, double-spaced, with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Number manuscript pages consecutively throughout the paper. All titles should be as brief as possible, 6 to 12 words. Authors should also supply a short version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of not more than 100 words. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and reference to the text. Further instructions and an author template can be obtained from the journal¡¯s web page at www.taylorandfrancis.com.
References
References should be listed in alphabetical order and follow the examples listed below with consideration to the Chicago Manual of Style, 14th Edition. In text, reference citationas should include author, year of publication, and where needed, page numbers (Brown 1978, 54). Identity subsequent citations of the source in the same way as the first, not using ibid., op. cit, or loc. cit. Give both last names for dual authors; for more than three use "et al." in the text. When two authors have the same last name, use identifying initials in the text. Examples:
Books: Diaz, L., and T. Milligan. 1996. Antenna engineering using physical optics -- practical CAD techniques and software. Boston: Artech House.
Periodicals: Buttenbach, T.H. 1993. An improved solution for integrated array optics in quasioptical mm and submm receivers: The hybrid anttenna. IEEE Trans. Microwave Theory Tech. 41: 1750-61.
Collections: White, D.H. and H. H. Woodson. 1959. Energy conversion. Pp. 100-108 in Electromechancial energy conversion, edited by D.H. White and H.H. Woodson. New York: Wiley. References to unpublished work or to work not properly indexed should not be used.
Illustrations
Illustrations submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be clean originals or digital files. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines:
- 300 dpi or higher
- sized to fit on journal page
- EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only
- submitted as separate files, not embedded in text files
Color illustrations will be considered for publication; however, the author will be required to bear the full cost involved in their printing and publication. The charge for the first figure is $1,200. Subsequent figures, totaling no more than 4 text pages, are $500.00 each. Good quality color prints should be provided, in their final size. Figures needing reduction or enlargement will be charged an additional 25 percent. The publisher has the right to refuse publication of any prints deemed unacceptable. Be sure that every figure has a brief descriptive legend and that every table has a concise title.
Tables and Figures
Tables and figures/illustrations should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate sheets or files. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend, with any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet. All original figures should be clearly marked in pencil on the reverse side with the number, author¡¯s name, and top edge indicated.
