About the journal
Annals of Combinatorics (AC) presents outstanding contributions to combinatorial mathematics in all its respects. It highlights new developments in the field that have yet to be given proper recognition, but show promise of eventual mathematical breakthroughs.
Coverage in the journal ranges from problems and theories that have arisen, or will arise, in applications to computer science, biology, statistics, probability, physics and chemistry, as well as over work of a combinatorial nature in representation theory, number theory topology, algebraic geometry and the theory of special functions.
Annals of Combinatorics also publishes research announcements, book reviews, as well as revealing and inspiring expositions.

Instructions to Authors
Authorship
Submission of a manuscript implies
– that the work described has not been published before;
– that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere;
– that its publication has been approved by all co-authors, if any, as well as by the responsible authorities at the institute where the work has been carried out;
– that, if and when the manuscript is accepted for publication, the authors agree to automatically transfer the copyright to the publisher;
– that the manuscript will not be published elsewhere in any language without the consent of the copyright holder;
– that the manuscript should be written in English.
The Editorial Process
To speed up publication, and to ensure a unified layout throughout the journal, we require the use of LaTeX.
Format of Manuscripts
Class File: To simplify the transformation process between your documents and the final layout, we provide the LaTeX class file birkjour.cls ready for use with the newer LaTeX versions (LaTeX2e). It can be downloaded from the web page http://www.birkhauser.ch/math/downloads as a zip file, birkjour.zip.
The class file is also available on request from the Editorial Office.
The first line in your document should be
documentclass{birkjour}.
The class file mainly sets the fonts, margins and spacing. It is based on the standard AMSart class. Hence all of the usual LaTeX and AMS-LaTeX commands can be used inside your document.
A small sample file containing a short documentation and being useful as template is also provided in the zip file.
The authors are highly recommended not to modify the class file by introducing personal settings and/or definitions.
General Remarks: We request that neither overfull nor underfull boxes are contained in the text, that equations do not exceed the indicated text width, and that hyphenations as well as the page breaks have been checked.
Submission of Manuscripts
The LaTeX source file(s) together with a formatted version of your article should be submitted electronically to one of the Managing Editors, via e-mail attachment(s) or by sending a CD with regular mail.
Reprints
50 reprints of each paper will be supplied free of charge. Prices for additional reprints can be obtained through the Publisher.
Open Choice
In addition to the normal publication process (whereby an article is submitted to the journal and access to that article is granted to customers who have purchased a subscription), Open Choice now provides an alternative publishing option. An Open Choice article receives all benefits of a regular “subscription-based” article, but in addition the full text is made available publicly through the journal’s online platform SpringerLink immediately after publication.
To publish via Open Choice upon acceptance of your article, please complete the relevant order form and provide the required payment information; the order form will be sent to you by our production department together with the page proofs of your article. Payment must be received in full before publication or articles will be published as a regular subscription-model article. For further information please visit
http://www.birkhauser.ch/AC.
Online First
Accepted manuscripts will be published electronically Online First until they are assigned to an issue.
