Instructions to Authors
Submit all manuscripts to:
Myron Nevins The International Journal of Periodontics & Restorative Dentistry 90 Humphrey Street Swampscott, MA 01907
- Submit three typewritten copies (original and two duplicates). All materials must be typed double-spaced on one side of the paper with at least a 1-inch margin all around. All pages should be numbered. Page 1 must include the complete names, titles, addresses, and professional affiliations of all authors. A 75- to 100-word abstract of the article must also be included.
- Original articles are considered for publication on the condition that they have not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
- The publisher reserves the right to edit all manuscripts to fit the space available and to ensure conciseness, clarity, and stylistic consistency. Titles of articles should be descriptive, but as concise as possible.
- The Journal will publish articles concerned with all aspects of clinical periodontolgy, restorative dentistry, and implantology. This includes pertinent research as well as clinical methodology (their interdependence and relationship should be addressed where applicable); proceedings of pertinent symposia or conferences; and quality review papers.
- Manuscripts will be reviewed by the editors and the editorial staff consultants with expertise in the field that encompasses the article.
- When a manuscript is accepted, authors will be asked to supply a diskette containing a "clean" verison of the final manuscript. This version should be free of tabs and formatting codes (eg, do not use different type sizes, type styles, centering, justification, bold, italic, etc). The diskette should be labeled with the first author's name and shortened article title, as well as the software used. Both Macintosh and PC diskettes will be accepted, with preference for the former.
- After acceptance of the manuscript in the English language version, authors whose native language is one of those in which the journal is translated (French, Japanese, German, Italian) are also requested to submit two hard copies in their language to the publisher of the relative country (addresses can be found on the masthead page of the English journal). This will guarantee a perfect translation of their work and avoid possible misinterpretation.
Illustrations
Color illustrations may be submitted in instances where their use contributes significantly to the value of the article. No charge will be made for such illustrations. Kodachrome transparencies of good quality should be submitted along with one duplicate. If arrows, letters, or numbers need to be added to the transparencies, submit black-and-white or colored prints of each transparency with the appropriate labels drawn. Handle all illustration materials carefully. Do not bend, fold, tape, or use paper clips. On each slide and on the back of each photograph, place a label with the author's last name and the correct figure number. Indicate the correct orientation. All photographs should be numbered and cited in order in the text. Original radiographs should be submitted. If originals cannot be supplied, send clear, sharp prints from originals.
- Drawings: Figures, charts, graphs, etc, should be professionally drawn and lettered large enough in india ink to be read after reduction.
- Legends: There should be an individual legend for each illustration. Figure legends should be typed as a group on a separate page. Detailed captions are encouraged. For photomicrographs, specify magnification and stain.
- Tables: Each table should be logically organized, typed on a separate page, and numbered consecutively. Table title and footnotes should be typed on the same page as the table.

- Type on a separate page.
- Cite all references numerically, in order of appearance in the text.
- Limit references to those specifically referred to in the text.
