About the journal

 FI Cover

Fundamenta Informaticae is an international journal publishing original research results in all areas of mathematical foundations of computer science and their applications. Papers are encouraged which contain:

(i) solutions, by mathematical methods, of problems emerging in computer science,

(ii) solutions of mathematical problems inspired by computer science,

(iii) applications studies that follow the situations in (i) and (ii).

Besides traditional disciplines of interest for computer science, such as mathematical theories of programs and programming, logic in computer science and artificial intelligence, theory of computing, complexity theory, design and analysis of algorithms, theory of formal languages and automata theory, concurrency, cellular automata, database theory, logic programming, nonmonotonic reasoning, parallel algorithms, term rewriting, theory of parallel and distributed computing, the journal is open to contributions presenting methods on more areas such as adaptive strategies of computing, approximate reasoning, agent system theory, bio-computing, machine learning and pattern recognition, data mining and knowledge discovery, decision theory, DNA computing, evolutionary computation, natural computing, neural networks, quantum computing, soft computing including fuzzy sets, rough sets and granular computing. This enumeration is not intended to be exclusive.

Instructions to Authors

  • The processing and typesetting of Fundamenta Informaticae is fully electronic. We encourage authors to submit electronic versions of papers, preferably in Latex 2E, using FI style files.
  • Contributions should be in English and may be submitted (in triplicate) to any member of the Editorial Board. The papers may also be submitted via electronic mail to fundam@mimuw.edu.pl
  • The manuscript must be typed on one side of paper in double spacing with wide margins. A duplicate copy should be retained by the author. The author's mailing address (including e-mail) should appear on the manuscript.
  • It is highly recommended that papers exceeding reasonable length (of about 20-30 pages) be split into two articles.
  • Upon acceptance of the paper the (principal) author will receive the FI LaTeX2E style file (by e-mail) and will be asked to send the final formatted version to the Editorial Office in Warsaw.
  • Authors wishing to format the paper in the FI style before submission may download style files from this page or apply for the style file to fundam@mimuw.edu.pl
  • No page charge is made.

Style files:

  • Complete bundle (zipped) - fundam.zip - contains style file, bibliography style file and authors guide.

Caution: The style files are prepared for use with LaTeX 2E. They will not work with obsolete LaTeX 2.09.
