About the journal
The open-access, peer-reviewed journal is published mostly in English. The scope of the journal is the morphology, taxonomy, development, life histories, zoogeography, phylogeny and evolution of Crustacea, Chelicerata, Myriapoda and other arthropods, both recent and fossil.
The journal is issued quarterly since 1992. Indexed by Web of Science and Scopus; reviewed by BIOSIS Previews, Zoological Record, CAB International, and VINITI. The journal's impact factor from Clarivate Analytics for 2017 is 0.633; from Scopus is 0.632; the current Scimago Journal Rank for 2017 is 0.32 (Q3).
Instructions to Authors
Arthropoda Selecta, Russian Journal of Research in Arthropoda publishes original papers dealing with the morphology, taxonomy, development, and life cycles, ecological and historical zoogeography, faunistics, phylogeny and evolution of Crustacea, Chelicerata (Arachnida), Myriapoda, Pycnogonida and other arthropod taxa, both recent and fossil, excluding particular papers on Hexapoda (Insecta), Acarina and Trilobitomorpha.
1. The journal publishes papers written in English, French, German or Russian, but English is preferred. Russian papers should include a brief English version (up to 2–3 double-spaced typewritten pages). English papers should include Russian abstracts only. All English translations are provided by authors, the Russian translations of English titles, abstracts and figure captions of the papers written by non-Russian authors can be provided by the editors.
2. Submission of manuscripts in formats of IBM-compatible text processors on floppy diskettes is preferable. The diskette may be submitted simultaneously with two typewritten copies. After obligatory reviewing and editing, the diskette will be returned to the author(s) for final corrections, if need be. To resubmit an accepted manuscript, authors should provide one typewritten copy and a diskette with a corrected text.
3. Typewritten manuscripts are to be submitted in duplicate including all figures, tables, and captions. Text should be typed on one side of A4 paper, double-spaced throughout including tables and references. All pages should be numbered sequentially throughout.
4. The length of a manuscript is limited by the volume of an issue, although shorter articles (up to 30 typewritten pages, including figures) will be given preferential treatment.
5. The journal follows certain semiological rules which the authors must respect. Generic and specific names should be typed in italic. Names of new taxa, synonyms, etc., should be concluded by sp.n., gen.n., syn.n. given bold. A word underlined once means italics, a word underlined twice means bold.
6. Authors should strictly follow the last edition of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature. A species mentioned in the text for the first time must be supplied with its author(s) and the year of publication. If the paper contains descriptions of new species-group taxa, the author(s) should indicate the museum where types (type series) are deposited together with the respective registration numbers of the type specimens. As depositoria, the Zoological Museum of the Moscow Lomonosov State University and/or the Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, St.-Petersburg, are preferable.
ARTICLES. The manuscript sent to the editors should be arranged as follows.
— running title in the language of the paper;
— the title of the paper in two languages (the first one in the language of the paper);
— name(s) and address(es) of the author(s) in two languages;
— key words in two languages;
— brief (up to 20 typewritten lines) abstract in two languages;
— brief English version (for Russian papers only);
— introduction;
— main part of the paper;
— acknowledgements;
— references;
— tables;
— figure captions in two languages on separate sheets.
TABLES. Each table should be typed on a separate sheet, and numbered with arabic numerals.
ILLUSTRATIONS. Line drawings, maps, graphs and photographs are designated as "Fig(s)" in the English texts and as "Рис." in the Russian ones. They must be numbered in a sequential order according to the sequence of references in the text. If a figure consists of several parts, they should be lettered in small Latin letters. All figures should be completely ready for publication. The maximal size of line drawings and photographs is 20 ´ 28 cm. The author(s) name(s) and title of the paper should be pencil-indicated either on the upper edge by an arrow or on the opposite side. Illustrations can be returned to the author(s) after publication at request.
REFERENCES. All references should be made in square brackets. In an English text, the references to the papers published in Russian should be transliterated into Latin letters. A paper with more than two authors is cited as [Makarov et al., 1982]. For the English manuscripts, titles of Russian papers (or other papers using non-Latinized alphabets) should be translated while the titles of Russian journals or books of collected papers should be transliterated (e.g. Trudy instituta okeanologii), original language should be indicated in square brackets. Journal titles remain unabbreviated unless international. Volumes and numbers of the journals are to be indicated in the language of publication, e.g. Bd. (Band), T. (Tome, Tomus), Vol. (Volume), H. (Heft), Fasc. (Fascicle), etc.
