Planta Daninha is a scientific journal officially published by the Brazilian Society of Weed Science (SBCPD) every three months.
A manuscript may be submitted for publication provided the first author or SBCPD member has paid the journal's annual fees. The publication of the manuscript shall have a fixed cost up to six pages and a variable cost per extra pages, according to updated values displayed on the journal site (http://www.pdaninha.ufv.br).
Manuscripts may be submitted only by the site www.pdaninha.ufv.br: please access the link "Submissão de artigos', on the front page. The submission form must be filled out only by the corresponding author, who will be responsible for the manuscript. The manuscripts must be sent as articles, scientific notes or literature reviews on a specific topic to be accepted by the Editorial Commission.
The following instructions should be observed for the preparation of articles and scientific notes:
1. The original copy of the manuscript must be complete and reviewed.
2. It must be computer-printed, 1,5 spacing, Times New Roman 12 , A4 format, with all pages and lines numbered.
3. The manuscript must be as clear and concise as possible.
4. Authors' names and identification must appear in the footnotes and must not be included in the manuscript when first submitted but only during the final publishing phase.
5. The articles must be divided into sections, as follows: RESUMO, ABSTRACT, (including title in English). INTRODUCTION, MATERIAL AND METHODS, RESULTS AND DISCUSSION, ACKNOWLEGEMENTS and CITED LITERATURE. This is not necessary when submitting literature reviews and scientific notes, although these must contain RESUMO and ABSTRACT. The sections must be constituted of:
TITLE: It must be clear and concise and contain no more than 80 characters. It must be centered on the top of the page. In case there is a subtitle, it must be written below the main title, with only the initial letter capitalized and preceded by a Roman numeral. Common weed and other culture names must be followed by their scientific names in parentheses in italics, omitting the Latin name. Only the common names of herbicides should be used. Superscript 1 should be placed at the end of the title. Footnotes must appear as follows:
1 Received for publication on (blank for day, month and year) and in the revised form on (blank for day, month and year).
RESUMO: it must present an introductory sentence, defining the objective of the work, the most important results and conclusions. It will be followed by indexation terms, preferentially different from the terms appearing in the title. Its translation into English will constitute the ABSTRACT.
PALAVRAS CHAVES AND KEYWORDS: a total of six (6) palavras -chave and key words must be presented immediately below the RESUMO and ABSTRACT, respectively, in alphabetical order. They should be selected so as to enable researchers to quickly locate the work in bibliographic reviews. They must not be included in the title, should be written in lower case letters and separated by commas, with no final period.
INTRODUCTION: must be short, defining the type of problem approached or work hypotheses, including citation of specific literature and conclusion defining the aim of the work.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: necessary and sufficient information must be presented to allow repetition of the work by other researchers.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Must be presented as a single section. There shall be no separate section for conclusions but the authors may conclude the section "Results and Discussion" presenting a summarized conclusion.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS: Must be simple and concise.
LITERATURE CITED: All the works mentioned in the text must be alphabetically listed with first author's last name, without number. The references must follow ABNT norms. Journals' titles must be abbreviated according to the system adopted for abbreviation of journals' titles of the "World List of Scientific Periodicals", as follows:
Abstracts and Research reports must not be cited unless they are very important and not published previously. Personal communication must be listed as footnote on the page the text appears and should be avoided, if possible. Only original work will be accepted, with citations such as Andrade (1991) , cited by Martin (1993) not being recommended.
