About the journal
Chemical Engineering Communications provides a forum for the rapid publication of papers in all areas of chemical engineering.
Full length papers, reviews and short communications are welcome, on subjects such as experimentation (both techniques and data), new theoretical models, commentaries on and discussion of previously published work and letters to the editor. Since the emphasis is on original work in progress, the editors also encourage submission of accounts of tentative results, provided they are well documented. Every effort will be made to ensure rapid publication. Papers which are accepted will be evaluated by the editors and referees on the basis of quality and originality of the work as well as the style and presentation of the paper.
Instructions to Authors
Submission of Manuscripts
Send the original typewritten manuscript and four copies and a cover letter to: William N. Gill, Editor, Chemical Engineering Communications, Manuscript Processing Office, 1620 Acton Street, Berkeley, CA 94702 USA. Papers are accepted in English only. Authors are strongly encouraged to submit manuscripts on disk. The disk should be prepared using MS Word or WordPerfect and should be clearly labeled with the authors' names, file name, and software program. Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher.
Preparation of Manuscripts
All manuscripts should be typewritten, double-spaced, and one-sided. Number manuscript pages consecutively throughout the paper. Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title for a running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces, an abstract of approximately 100-150 words, three to six keywords, the author(s) affiliation and location. Each submitted article must contain author(s) mailing address, telephone number, e-mail (if available). In addition, authors are requested to supply one extra copy of the article-opening page (including paper title, list of author(s), and affiliation(s), abstract, and keywords) and of the reference list, for publication in CEC Communications.
References. Literature referenced should be indicated in the text by consecutive superior arabic numbers in brackets. Listed references should be complete and journal abbreviations should conform to Chemical Abstracts style. Examples:
Journal article: [1] Smith, A.B. and Jones, C.D. (1965). T, Chimia, 46, 469-476.
Book: Crank, J. (1975). Mathematics of Diffusion, Oxford University Press, Oxford.
Footnotes
Authors are encouraged to minimize the use of footnoes. Information concerning grant support of research should appear in a separate Acknowledgments section at the end of the article, not in a footnote.
Tables and Figures
Tables and figures should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate sheets or files. Number tables consecutively with roman numerals; a short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any footnotes suitably identified below. Line art and photographs should be completely labeled and numbered consecutively with arabic numbers. The preferred width of submitted line art is 20 to 23 cm with capital lettering 4mm high, to accommodate reduction to single-column width. Captions should be typed on a separate sheet.
Proofs
Page proofs are sent to the designated author. They must be checked carefully and returned within 48 hours of receipt.
Reprints
Reprints of an individual article may be ordered from Taylor & Francis by using the reprint order form included with page proofs. A complimentary copy of the issue will be mailed to each author (up to 3 for multiple authors).
