About the journal
The Revue Française de Sociologie, a quarterly review founded in 1960 by Jean Stoetzel, publishes work that furthers knowledge of the social world and the development of conceptual and technical instruments in the service of that knowledge.
With its readership of professional scientists, the Revue Française de Sociologie provides an open forum for sociological thought and plays an important role in promoting French and French-language sociological research. We have further developed this role recently by inaugurating an annual selection of Revue articles in English translation.
Instructions to Authors
All texts in French or English submitted for publication to the Revue Française de Sociologie are read by the five current Editorial Committee members, two other editorial board members, and the editor of the journal. The Committee may call for an opinion from an outside expert. Committee members discuss articles in depth on the basis of at least eight evaluations and make a collective decision, which is then transmitted to authors in writing by a Committee member.
Annual English Issue
To make current French sociological study known and available to non-Francophone readers, the Revue Française de Sociologie publishes an annual supplementary issue in English of selected articles from the preceding year. All editorial board members participate in the selection process, choosing texts representative of a variety of domains and approaches, engaged in current debates within the discipline, and informative about French society in the aim of facilitating comparison with other countries.
Book reviews
All reviews submitted for publication to the Revue Française de Sociologie are read by the current Editorial Committee member in charge of reviews and the five other Committee members. A decision is made collectively after discussion and transmitted by the reviews reader.
