About the journal
| The monthly "Polimery", of international circulation, is publishing peerreviewed scientific and technical research papers covering polymer science and technology in the field of plastics, rubbers, chemical fibres and paints. The range of topics covered are raw materials, synthesis of polymers, plastics processing and applications. Apart from scientific and technical research papers the monthly includes technical and commercial information such as reports from fairs and exhibitions as well as home, world and technical news.

Instructions to Authors

Submission of manuscripts |
Manuscripts should be sent to the Editorial Office at the following adress
Redakcja Polimery Instytut Chemii Przemysłowej ul. Rydygiera 8 01-793 Warszawa, Poland Tel./Fax: (022) 633 98 04 e-mail: POLIMERY@ichp.pl
If produced in conventional form, the Manuscript should be sent in duplicate. If prepared on a disk (Word 2.0 or 6.0), two hard-copy versions should accompany the disk. The Manuscript should be typed in Times New Roman CE 12 or similar on A-4 paper sheets, one side only, double-spaced, with ample margins. The left-hand margin should be 4 cm; the right-hand margin should be min. 1.5 cm One set of illustrations should be sent in the form suitable for reproduction. The size of the Manuscript should not exceed 12 formal pages (approx. 2000 characters/formal page or 24 000 characters per manuscript) including tables and figures. Larger Manuscripts should be subdivided into Parts to be published in subsequent issues of the Polimery. |

Organization of manuscript |
Author(s), Address(es), Title. Follow this sequence, please. Include full names of Authors (avoid initials) and complete adress(es). Indicate to whom correspondence should be sent. Summary. Should not exceed 250 words. It should state clearly the objective of the work, give a concise and terse description of the study, and indicate the important conclusion(s). Introductory part. Do not use the subtitle Introduction. State the problem and outline your idea(s). Body. This should be organized in clearly identified sections supplied with appropriate titles and subtitles. Do not number your sections. Tables. Please acknowledge the limitations set by the size and layout of the "Polimery". A table should not exceed the printed area of the page. Tables should be numbered with Arabic numerals, in accordance with their sequence in the text. The text should include reference to each table. Table titles should be brief and self-explanatory. Column titles should be brief (explanations, if any, may be given in footnotes). Units of data should be preceded by a comma; they should be given in the fractional form, e.g., m3/h, or in the exponential form, e.g., m3h-1. Tables should be written on separate pages, added to the Manuscript. They should not be included into the body of the Manuscript. Figures. Should be closed within a framework and contain an auxiliary network of coordinate lines. Should not contain "empty areas" at the extremes. Curves should be numbered (1, 2, 3, etc.), and the number should be placed in the middle rather than at the end of the curve. Figures are reduced in the ratio 1:2 (or 2:3 or 2:5). In print, they should not be larger than 85 x 80 mm in size. Data points should be marked by symbols accessible in printer's type-matter (e.g. ? Ĺ Ě x Đ and the like). Figures and photographs should be given separately, neither stuck on the Manuscript paper sheets nor folded. Should be numbered with Arabic numerals according to their sequence in the text. References should be made to each figure and photograph in the text. Each figure and photograph should be identified on the reverse (or in the lower front in the case of line drawings). No letter, number or symbol should be less than 4 mm in height. Text in the figures should be kept to absolute minimum. Explanations are given in figure captions. Photographs should have a good contrast; sharp and glossy copies are required. Color illustrations cannot usually be included. Please indicate on the margin of a page the places where a given Tables and/or a Figure (specify its number) is mentioned for the first time. Figure captions. All figure captions should be collected as a separate list on an individual sheet(s) of paper. Formulas. Should be type written, with subscripts and superscripts set off clearly. Greek letters and other non-Latin symbols, when used for the first time, should be explained in the margin. Special care should be exercised to distinguish between zero (0) and the letter "0" and between one (1) and the letter "1". In simple formulas, slash (/) is permissible instead of the horizontal line. Fractional powers are preferred to root signs. Powers of e are more conveniently denoted by exp(...). Ion charges should be denoted as, e.g., Ba2+ and SO42- rather than Ba++ and SO4--. Equations (mathematical and chemical) should be numbered in parentheses placed on the right-hand side. Each equation and formula should start from a new line. |

References |
References are grouped at the end paper, numbered in the order of their appearance in the text. Please check that every reference quoted in the text appears in the list of references and vice versa. Numerals of references are given without brackets; the number is followed by a dot (cf. examples given below). Author's names are followed by their initials. With three authors and more, it is possible to cite the first author only and to refer to all the remaining authors as et al. Periodicals, monographs, and multi-authored books should be cited in accordance with the following examples: 1. Nguyen T., Bentz D., Byrd E.: J. Coat. Technol. 1995, 67, 37. 2. Nowacki W., Olesiak Z. S.: "Termodynamika w ciałach stałych", PWN, Warszawa 1991, p. 15. 3. Crank J., Park G. S.: "Diffusion in Polymers", Academic Press, London 1968, p. 21. 4. Shaw S. J., Tod D. A., Griffith J. R.: The Mechanical and Water Absorption Behavior of Fluoroepoxy Resins in "Adhesives, Sealants and Coatings for Space and Harsh Environments", Ed. L. H. Lee, Plenum Press, London 1988. Journal titles should preferably follow the CAS recommended abbrevations. Each reference should be complete: please do not use ibid., ibidem, op. cit, loco cit. and the like. Papers to be announced, but not yet published, should be referred to as in press, submitted for publication, or in preparation according to the actual stage of the forthcoming paper. Personal communications and unpublished data should be given as 5. Smith N., personal communication, 1997. 6. Witowska-Mocek B., unpublished data, 1996. Patents should be cited as, for example, US Pat. 3 941 734 (1976). Cross-references. These should be avoided. |
Footnotes and Appendices. |
Footnotes are discouraged, unless in Tables. Appendix(ces) may be used and should be numbered according as they appear in the text. |
System of units |
The use of the Systeme International d'Unit¨¦s (SI) is strongly recommended. If non-SI units are used, their conversion to SI units should be specified. |
Polymer nomenclature |
International symbols describing hompolymers, copolymers, terpolymers, derivatives of natural polymers etc. should be used as per the IUPAC Macromolecular Division's Commission on Macromolecular Nomenclature "Compendium on Macromolecular Nomenclature" prepared by W. V. Metanomski, Blackwell Scientific Publications. Following the recommendatios of the IUPAC Commission Macromolecular Nomenclature (cf. Polimery No. 3, 1989), the term "molecular weight" should be used rather than "molecular mass"; the symbol M has been retained. Please, when using acronyms instead full names of chemical compounds, use the international abbreviation symbols to describe homopolymers, terpolymers and derivatives of natural polymers (cf. Polimery 1/2000). |
