Thematic Discussions The Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology occasionally supplements its broad coverage with single-themed Special Issues and Special Sections dedicated to topics of particular interest. Previous thematic discussions include Culture and the Self, Culture and Risk, The Generalizability of Social Psychological Laws and Theories Across Cultures, and Television in the Developing World.
Instructions to Authors
The Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology (JCCP) publishes material in four categories: 1) regular, unsolicited manuscripts, 2) brief reports, 3) special issues, and 4) book reviews. Summary details of each category are as follows:
Regular, Unsolicited Manuscripts. This is JCCP's main emphasis. Manuscripts can be submitted either in printed (mailed) or digital (E-mail) form. Please do not use both forms for the same manuscript. A submission should always be accompanied by a cover letter. Printed manuscripts should be submitted in quadruplicate to the editor: Fons van de Vijver, Department of Psychology, Tilburg University, P.O. Box 90153, 5000 LE Tilburg, The Netherlands.

Acceptable text formats for electronic submission are: Microsoft Word (for Windows), Rich Text Format, and Adobe Acrobat (PDF). Electronic versions may be used for communicating with reviewers. Authors are responsible for the editing of the manuscripts. JCCP cannot be held responsible for formatting errors in the manuscript resulting from routine processing by the editorial board or reviewers. Electronically submitted manuscripts should be sent to the editor at fons.vandevijver@uvt.nl.
Unsolicited manuscripts can vary in length; typically they range from 15 to 35 double-spaced manuscript pages. Manuscripts should be of sufficient length to ensure theoretical and methodological competence, should be focused, and should avoid redundancy. Manuscripts must be in English and accompanied by an abstract not exceeding 125 words. Bibliographic citations should follow the current journal style. Formatting and bibliographic citations should follow the journal's format, which is based upon the specifications of the American Psychological Association. APA Style Resource Links, Psych Web Psychology with Style: A Hypertext Writing Guide Manuscripts in this category are reviewed by the Editorial Advisory Board. Allow up to three months for publication decisions and up to one year for publication.
Brief Reports. Accepted Brief Reports should be no more than 10 double-spaced manuscript pages long, including title page, references and any tables. Further information can be obtained from the Editor.
Special Issues. An important part of JCCP's publication policy is the periodic publication of special issues or special sections of regular issues. Current needs, emerging trends, and readership interest guide the publication of material in this category. Ideas or suggestions for special issues or special sections should be discussed with Senior Editor, Walter J. Lonner.
