About the journal
The International Journal of Neuroscience publishes papers, reviews, letters to the editor, comments and notes concerned with problems of nervous tissue, the nervous system, and behavior. It deals not only with the obvious areas of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, neurochemistry, neuropharmacology, and neuroendocrinology, but all impinging and related areas of mathematics, physics, physical chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, bioengineering, communication and information, learning, memory, conditioning, and higher behavioral considerations. Both theoretical and experimental approaches are adopted, in particular those leading toward clarification of existing data, formation of new concepts and development of new tools for investigation (such as new mathematics, new theories of thermodynamics, etc.). In addition, the journal includes announcements and notes of events occurring in various parts of the world of significance to neuroscience.

Aims and Scope The International Journal of Neuroscience publishes papers, reviews, letters to the editor, comments, and notes concerned with problems of nervous tissue, the nervous system, and behavior. It deals not only with the obvious areas of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, neurochemistry, neuropharmacology, and neuroendocrinology, but all related areas of mathematics, physics, physical chemistry, biochemistry, biophys-ics, bioengineering, communication and information, learning, memory, conditioning, and higher behavioral considerations. Both theoretical and experimental approaches are adopted, in particular those leading toward clarification of existing data, formation of new concepts and development of new tools for investigation (such as new mathematics, new theories of thermodynamics, etc.). The Clinical and Experimental Neuropsychopharmacology and Neuroendocrinology section covers a broad range of topics related to the field of neuropsychopharmacology and neuroendocrinology. It focuses on research relevant to both clinical and experimental aspects of CNS pharmacology and endocrinology as related to psychiatric and neurological disorders. The section on Electrical and Magnetic Neural Activity covers a broad range of studies in the areas of electrophysiology and neuromagnetism, inclding basic and applied work, new recording and analytic techniques, and theoretical papers. Specific topics include electroencepholography, evoked potentials, single-cell recording and magneteoencephalography. The Neuroimmunomodulation section focuses on the interaction among the nervous, endocrine, and immune systems. Its interdisclipinary scope incorporates immunology, physiology, pharmacology, endocrinology, genetics, cell biology, molecular biology, psychoneuroimmunology, and behavior.
Submission of Manuscripts Please submit manuscripts in triplicate to the Editor-In-Chief: Sir Sidney Weinstein, 2300 Cherry Laurel Lane, Chapel Hill, NC 27516-8306, or to the assistant editor- Prof. Reuven Sandyk, 7 Piper Court, Roslyn, NY 11576 USA. Papers for the topical sections can be submitted to Dr. Weinstein or to the appropriate sectional editor: For Clinical and Experimental Neuropsychopharmacology and Neuroendocrinology: Prof. Reuven Sendyk (see above address). For Electrical and Magnetic Neural Activity: Ehud Kaplan, Mount Sinai School of Medicine Box, 1183, One Gustave L. Levy Place, New York, NY, 10029, USA. For Neuroimmunomodulation: Ion Baciu, 8 M. Authors are strongly encouraged to submit manuscripts on disk. The disk should be prepared using MS Word or WordPerfect and should be clearly labeled with the authors' names, file name, and software program. A hardcopy printout that exactly matches the disk must be supplied. Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher.
All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher. All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, double-spaced, with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Number manuscript pages consecutively throughout the paper. Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces. Each article should be summarized in an abstract of not more than 100 words. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and reference to the text. Six keywords should be provided.

Tables and Figures Tables and figures/ illustrations (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicro-graphs, etc.) should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate sheets or files. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet. All original figures should be clearly marked in pencil on the reverse side with the number, author's name, and top edge indicated, and should be clean originals or digital files. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines:
- 300 dpi or higher
- sized to fit on journal page
- EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only
Proofs Page proofs are sent to the designated author. They must be carefully checked and returned within 48 hours of receipt. Corrections are limited to printer's errors, no substantial author's changes will be made.
