About the journal
Higher Education is recognised as the leading international journal of Higher Education studies, publishing eight separate numbers each year. Since its establishment in 1972, Higher Education has followed educational developments throughout the world in universities, polytechnics, colleges, and vocational and education institutions. It has actively endeavoured to report on developments in both public and private Higher Education sectors. Contributions have come from leading scholars from different countries while articles have tackled the problems of teachers as well as students, and of planners as well as administrators.
While each Higher Education system has its own distinctive features, common problems and issues are shared internationally by researchers, teachers and institutional leaders. Higher Education offers opportunities for exchange of research results, experience and insights, and provides a forum for ongoing discussion between experts.
Higher Education publishes authoritative overview articles, comparative studies and analyses of particular problems or issues. All contributions are peer reviewed.

Manuscript Submission
Submission of a manuscript implies: that the work described has not been published before; that it is not under consideration for publication anywhere else; that its publication has been approved by all co-authors, if any, as well as by the responsible authorities ?tacitly or explicitly ?at the institute where the work has been carried out. The publisher will not be held legally responsible should there be any claims for compensation.
Permissions
Authors wishing to include figures, tables, or text passages that have already been published elsewhere are required to obtain permission from the copyright owner(s) for both the print and online format and to include evidence that such permission has been granted when submitting their papers. Any material received without such evidence will be assumed to originate from the authors.
Online Submission
Authors should submit their manuscripts online. Electronic submission substantially reduces the editorial processing and reviewing times and shortens overall publication times. Please follow the hyperlink “Submit online?on the right and upload all of your manuscript files following the instructions given on the screen.

New Authors: Please click the 'Register' button from the menu above and enter the requested information. Upon successful registration you will be sent an e-mail with instructions to verify your registration.
Authors: Please click the 'Login' button from the menu above and log in to the system as 'Author'. Then submit your manuscript and track its progress through the system. A wide range of submission file formats is supported, including: Word, WordPerfect, RTF, TXT, TIFF, GIF, JPEG, EPS, LaTeX2E, TeX, Postscript, PICT, Excel, Tar, Zip and Powerpoint. PDF is not an acceptable file format.

Please upload your manuscript only ONCE on to the system. After uploading your manuscript, it will be automatically formatted as a PDF file, and you will be sent an e-mail requesting that you approve your submission. Please return to the main menu and APPROVE your submission accordingly.
Returning Authors: Please use the provided username and password and log in as 'Author' to track your manuscript or to submit a NEW manuscript. (Do not register again as you will then be unable to track your manuscript).
Reviewers: Please click the 'Login' button from the menu above and log in to the system as 'Reviewer'. You may view and/or download manuscripts assigned to you for review, submit your comments for the editors and the authors, and track the progress of your manuscripts through the system.
To change your username and password: Log in to the system and select 'Update My Information' from the menu above. At the top of the Update My Information screen, click the 'Change Password' button and follow the directions.
