Educational Review is a leading journal for generic educational research and scholarship. For over half a century it has offered authoritative reviews of current national and international issues in schooling and education. It publishes peer-reviewed papers from international contributors which report research across a range of education fields including curriculum, inclusive and special education, educational psychology, policy, management and international and comparative education.

The editors welcome informed papers from new and established scholars which encourage and enhance academic debate. The journal offers editions which publish non-commissioned papers and themed issues which deal with a current topic in-depth. Instructions to Authors

Articles submitted to Educational Review should not be under consideration by any other journal, or have been published elsewhere, and the letter accompanying the submission of any manuscript should contain a clear statement to this effect.

Three copies of manuscripts of c.4,000-6,000 words should be sent to the Editors, Educational Review, School of Education, University of Birmingham, Edgbaston, Birmingham B15 2TT, UK. Longer articles will be considered. They should be typed on one side of the paper, double spaced, with ample margins, and bear the title of the contribution, name(s) of the author(s) and the address where the work was carried out on one of the copies only. Each article should be accompanied by an abstract/summary of 100-150 words on a separate sheet. The full postal address of the author who will check proofs and receive correspondence and offprints should also be included, plus a telephone number. All pages should be numbered and the total word count of the article, including references, appendices, etc. given. Footnotes to the text should be avoided.

Disks. Authors should send the final, revised version of their articles in both hard copy paper and electronic disk forms. It is essential that the hard copy (paper) version exactly matches the material on disk. Please print out the hard copy from the disk you are sending. Submit three printed copies of the final version with the disk to the journal's editorial office. Save all files on a standard 3.5 inch high-density disk. We prefer to receive disks in Microsoft Word in a PC format, but can translate from most other common word processing programs as well as Macs. Please specify which program you have used. Do not save your files as "text only" or "read only".

Tables and captions to illustrations. Tables must be typed out on separate sheets and not included as part of the text. The captions to illustrations should be gathered together and also typed out on a separate sheet. Tables should be numbered by Roman numerals, and figures by Arabic numerals. The approximate position of tables and figures should be indicated in the manuscript. Captions should include keys to symbols.

Figures. Please supply one set of artwork in a finished form, suitable for reproduction. Figures will not normally be redrawn by the publisher.

References should be indicated in the typescript by giving the author's name, with the year of publication in parentheses. If several papers by the same author and from the same year are cited, a, b, c, etc. should be put after the year of publication. The references should be listed in full at the end of the paper in the following standard form:

For books: SCOTT, P. (1984) The Crisis of the University (London, Croom Helm).

For articles: CREMIN, L. A. (1983) The problematics of education in the 1980s: some reflections on the Oxford Workshop, Oxford Review of Education, 9, pp. 33-40.

For chapters within books: WILLIS, P. (1983) Cultural production and theories of reproduction, in: L. BARTON & S. WALKER (Eds) Race, Class and Education (London, Croom Helm).

Titles of journals should not be abbreviated.

If you have any further questions about the style for this journal, please submit your questions using the Style Queries form.

Proofs will be sent to authors if there is sufficient time to do so. They should be corrected and returned to the Editor within three days. Major alterations to the text cannot be accepted.

Additional copies of the journal can be purchased at the author’s preferential rate of ?5.00/$25.00 per copy.

Copyright: It is a condition of publication that authors vest or license copyright in their articles, including abstracts, in the Editors of Educational Review. This enables us to ensure full copyright protection and to disseminate the article, and the journal, to the widest possible readership in print and electronic formats as appropriate. Authors may, of course, use the article elsewhere after publication without prior permission from Taylor & Francis, provided that acknowledgement is given to the Journal as the original source of publication, and that Taylor & Francis is notified so that our records show that its use is properly authorised. Authors are themselves responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources.
