***Note to Authors: please make sure your contact address information is clearly visible on the outside of all packages you are sending to Editors.***
Authors are invited to submit papers comprising original educational research, reviews of recent research in particular areas, or discussion articles on research topics.
Articles should not normally exceed 5,000 words and should be accompanied by an abstract of up to 150 words and up to a maximum of six keywords, to assist indexing and subsequent online article retrieval.
As well as the intrinsic interest of the article, conciseness and clarity are important considerations. Technical jargon should be avoided, and, where possible, statistical data should be summarized in the text, although tables may be included if they are clearly presented. Authors are encouraged to describe their findings in terms intelligible to the non-expert reader.
Shorter articles (less than 4000 words) or articles with a restricted appeal to our readership may also be accepted for publication as short reports provided they meet appropriate quality standards.
Articles should be submitted electronically in the first instance, wherever possible. If this is not possible, articles should be typed in double spacing on one side of A4 (or equivalent sized) paper, with an accompanying floppy disk (Microsoft Word?is the preferred format). It is imperative that both print and electronic versions match exactly.
Illustrations should be of the same size, and of a suitable standard for direct reproduction.
References should be indicated in the typescript by giving the author's name, with the year of publication in parentheses. If several papers by the same author and from the same year are cited, a, b, c, etc. should be put after the year of publication. The references should be listed in full at the end of the paper in the following standard form:
For books: Scott, P. (1984) The crisis of the university (London, Croom Helm). For articles: Cremin, L. A. (1983) The problematics of education in the 1980s: some reflections on the Oxford workshop, Oxford Review of Education, 9, 33-40. For chapters within books: Willis, P. (1983) Cultural production and theories of reproduction, in: L. Barton & S. Walker (Eds) Race, Class and Education (London, Croom Helm).
Titles of journals should not be abbreviated.
All articles submitted to the journal are subject to review by the Editorial Board.
Papers are only accepted for review on the basis that they are not being submitted elsewhere for publication.
