Instructions to Authors
Notes For Authors
1. All submissions must be typed on one side of the paper and double spaced (including footnotes and references). The editors will give preference to articles which are succinctly written. Articles should not normally exceed 25 pages of A4 in total. Overlong papers will be returned without consideration. 2. Submissions should include: I. A separate page stating the title of the paper, names and institutions of all authors, and postal and email addresses for the corresponding authors; and II. Three copies of the paper with a cover page which includes only the title of the paper, an abstract of less than 100 words, a list of keywords indicating the contents of the article, and the relevant Journal of Economic Literature classification number(s). 3. If the paper presents analysis of data, it should be accompanied by a computer disk with data files which enable a referee to replicate both the construction of the data and the results. A hard copy of the requisite documentation should be attached. 4. Submission of a paper will be held to imply that it is original work and that it has not already been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. 5. Submissions should be sent to Professor Paul Miller, School of Economics and Commerce, M251, The University of Western Australia, 35 Stirling Highway, Crawley, Western Australia 6009, Australia. 6. Submission is free to members of the Economic Society of Australia. Members submitting articles should indicate the branch of which they are a current financial member. The submission fee for non-members is $A66.00 (including $6.00 GST), which must be paid in Australian currency. Payment can be made by Direct Deposit to: Economic Society of Australia, Central Council Inc., BSB 032 024 Account No. 33 3754 (Westpac, Martin Place, Sydney). The Society accepts Visa, Mastercard and Bankcard. Cheques should be made payable to "The Economic Society of Australia". Our ABN 88 499 826 758. Non-members can download an Economic Record submission form on www.ecosoc.org.au/Docs/Submissions.pdf or email ecosoc@optushome.com.au. 7. The introduction, conclusion and abstract should be written for the non-specialist. Lengthy mathematical presentations should, whenever possible, be located in appendices. Articles will not usually be published if they are minor variations of existing analyses or of interest only to very small and specialized audiences, or if they are mainly descriptive. 8. Sections of the paper should be numbered in Roman numerals; figures and tables in Arabic numerals. Tables and diagrams should be self-contained. A condition of acceptance is that illustrations should be of professional quality and ready for reproduction. If possible, they should be suitable for reduction to single column width. 9. Mathematical notation should be as simple as possible. Equations should be identified by consecutive Arabic numbers (in parentheses) at the conclusion of the equation. 10. Any footnote attached to the main heading should be designated by an asterisk. All other footnotes must be designated by numerals in continuous sequence. 11. All references should be listed alphabetically by the author at the end of the manuscript. The listing style should be that used in previous issues. References in the text should be made by giving the author's name followed by year of publication in brackets. 12. Authors of accepted articles will be required to send a copy of the paper on computer disk.
