Instructions to Authors
Manuscript Submission Guidelines:
E-MAIL MANUSCRIPTS to the COMPARATIVE POLITICAL STUDIES Editorial Office as Word files: cps@u.washington.edu. Submit an anonymous manuscript file (all identifying information removed), plus a separate page with the title, author(s)' names and affiliations, keywords, and complete contact information for the corresponding author (mail and e-mail addresses as well as telephone and fax numbers). The abstract must state precisely the intellectual problem under consideration, the method or argument addressed to the problem, and the conclusions reached by the author(s). Articles should be double spaced, prepared with a 12-point font (Times Roman preferred), and 25 to 35 pages long. Longer submissions may not be considered. Count all pages and begin the abstract, reference section, footnotes, tables, figures, and appendices (if any) on separate pages. Footnotes and bibliographic citations should follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5th edition). A style sheet may be obtained upon request. A brief bibliographical paragraph describing each author's current affiliation, research interests, and recent publications should accompany the manuscript. Submission of a manuscript implies commitment to publish in the journal. Please state in your cover letter that the material has not been published elsewhere in substantially similar form or with similar content. Authors in doubt about what constitutes prior publication should consult the editor. E-mailed submissions will be assigned a manuscript number and acknowledged. Unless requested otherwise, decision letters will be sent by e-mail to the corresponding author. Authors who want to refine the use of English in their manuscripts might consider utilizing the services of SPi, a non-affiliated company that offers Professional Editing Services to authors of journal articles in the areas of science, technology, medicine or the social sciences. SPi specializes in editing and correcting English-language manuscripts written by authors with a primary language other than English. Visit http://www.prof-editing.com for more information about SPi’s Professional Editing Services, pricing, and turn-around times, or to obtain a free quote or submit a manuscript for language polishing. Please be aware that SAGE has no affiliation with SPi and makes no endorsement of the company. An author’s use of SPi’s services in no way guarantees that his or her submission will ultimately be accepted. Any arrangement an author enters into will be exclusively between the author and SPi, and any costs incurred are the sole responsibility of the author.
