About the journal
The Journal of the Chinese Chemical Society (ISSN 0009-4536) is published bimonthly (six issues per year) by The Chemical Society located in Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China. The scope of the Journal includes both experimental and theoretical reports of original research. Contributions are acceptable only in English. Manuscripts are considered for publication only if they have been neither published previously nor submitted elsewhere for publication. Three copies of the manuscript (typewritten, double spaced with wide margins, on 22 cm x 28 cm2 or A4 paper), with accompanying figures, should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief of the Chinese Chemical Society, P.O. Box 1-9, Nankang, Taipei, Taiwan 115, Republic of China. The author who submits a manuscript for publication should ensure that all co-authors agree to their co-authorship. It is understood that copyright for all published material is vested in the Chinese Chemical Society and that authors bear sole responsibility of the factual accuracy of their publications.
Instructions to Authors
Preparation of Manuscripts IUPAC nomenclature and SI units should be used as much as possible. In general usage and layout, the Journal of the Chinese Chemical Society follows the recommendations described in The ACS Style Guide: A Manual for Authors and Editors, Dodd, J. S, Ed.; ACS: Washington, DC, 1986. For the particular IUPAC recommendations pertinent to inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry and physical chemistry, authors are referred to the books Nomenclature of Inorganic Chemistry (Blackwell: Oxford, U.K., 1990), Nomenclature of Organic Chemistry (Pergamon: Oxford, U.K., 1979), and Quantities, Units and Symbols in Physical Chemistry (Blackwell: Oxford, U.K., 1988), respectively, and to the corresponding more recent reports in the journal Pure and Applied Chemistry.
- The title should convey to the informed reader the nature of the content of the paper.
- The abstract should briefly state the reason for the work and the main results and conclusions. Because the abstract is also used for information retrieval services, it should not contain references to schemes, equations or other material in the main text of the paper.
- The full name(s) of the author(s) should be provided. Authors with Chinese names should also state their names in Chinese characters in parentheses after the Romanized spelling of the name. The author(s) to whom correspondence should be addressed must be indicated with an asterisk. Complete addresses should be given, including postal codes.
- The key words should be provided on the last page of the manuscript after the acknowledgement.
- The text of the paper should be organized under headings such as INTRODUCTION, RESULTS, DISCUSSION (or RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS), and EXPERIMENTAL SECTION. For the purpose of clarity, subheadings may also be used.
- Tables should be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals. Table captions should be brief but sufficiently clear so that they can be understood without reference to the text. Each table should be typed on a separate page, and tables should be collected at the end of the manuscript.
- Figures should be submitted either as original art work or as high-quality reproductions. Figures should be of high contrast and carefully lettered so that when the figures are reduced for publication, they are clear and intelligible. Figures should be numbered consecutively; the captions should be typed on a separate sheet and grouped with the figures at the end of the manuscript. Color reproduction of figures is unavailable. Complicated chemical equations, reaction schemes and structures should also be supplied as finished artwork ready for photographic reproduction. For authors using the ChemDraw program, the following preference items are recommended: fixed length, l8pt; line width, lpt; bold width, 2.5pt; hash spacing, 2.5pt; margin width, 2.0pt; bond spacing, 20% of width. Single-width bold and dashed lines are preferred to wedges for stereochemical notation; 12pt Helvetica font should be used for both atomic labels and textual material.
- Both mathematical and chemical equations should be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals in parentheses. Equations should be written in such a way as to achieve maximum clarity and minimum typesetting difficulties. Thus, for example, the solidus (/) should normally be used to indicate division and exp (...) to represent exponential functions. To avoid errors, the author should write in the margin the full name of the Greek or other special characters used.
- Experimental data for organic and inorganic compounds should follow the international conventions. The presentation of new data should be in the following order: mp; [¦Á]DT¡ãC; UV; IR; 1H NMR; 13C NMR; MS; HRMS; Anal. Calcd for CwHxNyOz: C,; H,; N,. Found: C,; H,; N,.).
- Abbreviations and units should conform to the IUPAC convention. The following common abbreviations and units are recommended: g for gram, mL for milliliter, NMR for nuclear magnetic resonance, UV for ultraviolet, IR for infrared, K for kelvin. Abbreviations should be used only if they either increased the clarity of the paper or result in a significant saving of space. If there is any doubt about the meaning of an abbreviation, the first time it appears, the term should be spelled in full, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses.
- Papers presenting crystallographic structure determinations should include the following items: crystal data, positional parameters (partial), selected bond lengths and bond angles, and a drawing of the crystal or molecular structure with numbering. Because the Journal has no provision for supplementary material, authors should be prepared to provide more detailed data to inquirers. The data presentation should conform to the recommendations of the Commission on Crystallography of the IUCr (Acta Crystallogr. 1990, A41, 1).
- References should be indicated consecutively in the text by superscript numerals, to the right of all punctuation. The complete list of references should be collected at the end of the paper in the following form:
Chuang, T.-H.; Fang, J.-M. J. Chin. Chem. Soc. 2001, 48 , 193. Bernstein, R. B. Chemical Dynamics via Molecular Beam and Laser Techniques; Oxford: New York, 1982; Chapter 9. Talley, L. D.; Lin, M. C. In Aspects of the Kinetics and Dynamics of Surface Reactions; Landman, U., Ed.; AIP Conference Proceedings, American Institute of Physics, New York, 1980; pp 297-306. Huang, C.-M. M. S. Thesis, Fu Jen Catholic University, June 1987.
Abbreviations of journal titles should conform to the practice of Chemical Abstracts. In typewritten manuscripts, indicate italics by underlining and boldface by underscoring with a wavy line:
Chuang, T.-H.; Fang, J.-M. J. Chin. Chem. Soc. 2001, 48, 193.
Abbreviations of journal titles should conform to the practice of Chemical Abstracts.
Review and Revision of Manuscripts Each manuscript submitted to the Journal of the Chinese Chemical Society is evaluated by anonymous referees. When revision is necessary, the manuscript with the comments of the referees is returned to the authors. Revised manuscripts must be resubmitted to the Editor-in-Chief in duplicate with all pages affected by the revision retyped. If a manuscript returned to the authors for revision is not returned to the editor within three months, it will be considered to be withdrawn and will be treated as a new manuscript if and when it is resubmitted. The final decision on any manuscript rests with the Editor-in-Chief.
At the discretion of the editor, manuscripts may be submitted to an English editor for the purpose of reviewing the manuscript with consideration of English grammar and style. If extensive corrections are necessary, the editor, on the recommendation of the English referee, may require that a manuscript be revised and retyped or even withdrawn.
Please proof-read the typewritten manuscript and make corrections directly on the galleys with the following instructions:
- Important! Please make a photocopy of the enclosed article upon receipt.
- Use red ink to indicate corrections in the margins of the galleys.
- Do not erase or obliterate type; instead, strike one line through the copy to be deleted and write the change in the margin.
- Clarify complicated corrections by rewriting the entire phrase or sentence in the margin.
- Check all text, data, and references against the original manuscript. Pay particular attention to equations; formulas; tables; captions; spelling of proper names; and numbering of equations, illustrations, tables, and references.
- Answer explicitly all queries made by the technical editor.
- Please acknowledge your completion with your signature on the manuscript.
- Proofs should be returned to the Editorial Office within 48 hours (two days)
