About the journal
 Genetic, Social, and General Psychology Monographs publishes articles of monograph length that make an outstanding contribution to the field of psychology. Articles deal with the biological as well as the behavioral and social aspects of psychology and often present a series of research studies, a new theory, or an in-depth criticism of an existing theory.
Instructions to Authors
Genetic, Social, and General Psychology Monographs accepts articles of monograph length, shorter versions of which would be appropriate for publication in either The Journal of Genetic Psychology, The Journal of Social Psychology, The Journal of General Psychology, or The Journal of Psychology. As is the case with these four journals, Genetic, Social, and General Psychology Monographs is devoted to research and theory. Typically a Monographs article exceeds 35 typed pages; makes an outstanding contribution to the field of psychology; and may well present a series of research studies, a new theory, or an in-depth criticism of a recognized existing theory. Innovative research and new approaches are particularly encouraged. Monographs may deal with the biological as well as the behavioral and social aspects of psychology.
E-mail: We encourage submitting articles electronically as a double-spaced Word file with minimal formatting in Times New Roman font. Please do not use style sheets, or forced section or page breaks. Use endnotes, not automatic footnotes, and please insert your endnotes manually in the text. Use a superscript for note numbers (on the Word menu, go to the toolbar for Format, click on Font, and then click on the Superscript character in the lower left-hand area). E-mail tables in one file and figures in a separate file. Enclose a submission letter, with a statement that the manuscript is not under concurrent consideration elsewhere. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two readers, a process ordinarily requiring 2 to 3 months.
Manuscripts must adhere to the conventions of style and format described in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5th ed., 2001). The checklist on pages 379-382 of the Manual is especially helpful in preparing manuscripts for submission. Include a title page that lists the departmental affiliations of all authors. Type the author identification notes on a separate page; include a complete mailing address for reprint requests. Accepted manuscripts will be edited for clarity and adherence to APA and Heldref style rules.
After an article has been accepted, the final version should be submitted electronically as a double-spaced Word file, with minimal formatting, in Times or Times New Roman. Do not use electronic style sheets, forced section or page breaks, or automatic footnotes. E-mail tables in a separate file and figures in their original source files.
Each author receives two complimentary copies of the issue in which his or her article appears and permission to reproduce additional copies of that article. Contributors may order reprints at their own expense through Heldref Publications.
