About the journal

The Denver University Law Review is the premier law journal of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.

The Denver University Law Review dates back 83 years to 1923, when its predecessor, the Denver Bar Association Record, began publication. In 1928, the name of the publication was changed to Dicta. The journal was published under that name until 1963, when it became the Denver Law Center Journal. It became the Denver Law Journal in 1966, and finally, the Denver University Law Review in 1985.

The Denver Bar Association was the sole publisher until 1939, when the Colorado Bar Association joined the effort. The University of Denver College of Law joined the two bar associations as co-publisher in 1949, then took over as sole publisher in 1966.

Instructions to Authors

Volume 83 is full, and we are no longer accepting submissions. We are now accepting submissions for Volume 84. Thank you for your interest.

Articles Submissions

The Denver University Law Review publishes four issues per year.

We invite article submissions from professors, practitioners, judges and law clerks. Unfortunately, we do not consider any article submissions by current law students with the exception of articles or comments written by Denver University Law Review members.

Process for Submitting Articles

Articles may be submitted by either electronic or hard-copy format. Electronic submissions should be sent to lawrevae@law.du.edu in either Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF format. Hard-copy submissions should be addressed to:

  • Each author who submits a manuscript will receive an e-mail confirming receipt of the article.

Authors will be notified by either a letter or e-mail that their articles have not been selected for publication.

Expedited Requests
