The mission of the Journal is to contribute to improving health in the Region by publishing and publicising quality health research and information with emphasis on public health and relevance to the Region. The EMHJ: publishes original peer-reviewed research papers on health and medical topics, with particular focus on public health and health systems research in the Region provides up-to-date information on (public) health developments with special reference to the Region enables health professionals in all fields to remain informed of developments in public health. The Journal addresses all members of the health profession, medical and other health educational institutes, and governmental and nongovernmental organizations in the area of public health within and outside the Region. The EMHJ is peer-reviewed and published monthly with papers in English, Arabic and French, with abstracts of the papers also in all three languages. It is available in print and electronic format, and in keeping with the strategic objectives of WHO to make health knowledge accessible, all issues are available free online.
