S., Nashville, TN 37203. Law Review Member Selection: The Law Review selects new members in the spring of their first year. Students interested in Law Review membership are required to compete in a case comment competition following their spring final exams. Members are selected based on a combination of their case comment score and their first year grade point average. The Law Review selects thirty first year students annually. [Information on the Joint Case Competition] Transfer students may also become members. The Law Review conducts a transfer competition in the fall. Second year students may also write on to the Law Review. The write-on competition is conducted in the spring. [Information on the 2L Write-On Competition] Law Review Member Duties: Second year Law Review members have two principal duties. Second year students are required to assist the Managing Department in cite-checking professional and student pieces. Thorough and accurate completion of this duty is a requirement for membership. The Law Review also requires all second year members to write a student note. The note may be on any original American jurisprudential topic. Thoughtful, well-written, and innovative notes will be published by the Law Review. Third year members have the opportunity to serve on theLaw Review's editorial board. Editorial positions are chosen in the spring of a member's second year. Copyright Permission: The Vanderbilt Law Review publishes articles and notes under a copyright license with its authors. For information regarding subscriptions to the Law Review or purchase of single and back issues, please go to our subscriptions page.   Instructions to Authors Overview The Vanderbilt Law Review publishes six issues per year, in January, March, April, May, October, and November. The Law Review welcomes submissions of both articles and essays. We rarely publish book reviews. We publish a symposium issue every year, but we do not accept outside submissions for symposia. The Law Review welcomes articles and essays on a wide range of legal topics, and we give serious consideration to every submission made. Authors should, however, realize that the overwhelming majority of our published articles are by law professors. Moreover, we do not publish student-written articles. The Law Review publishes at most 18 articles each year, and in the past few years has received more than 2,000 submissions per year. Submissions Vanderbilt Law Review is now reviewing submissions for the 2009-2010 academic year. We strongly prefer that authors submit their pieces electronically through ExpressO. However, we will accept print submissions or electronic submissions emailed to articles.review@law.vanderbilt.edu. Please do not submit both print and electronic copies. All submissions should be accompanied by a cover letter and a curriculum vitae. Submissions should conform to Bluebook format.
