About the journal
The University of Pittsburgh Law Review, founded in 1934, is a student-run and edited journal of legal scholarship that publishes four issues each year. In the 2005-2006 academic year we will be publishing our 67th volume. The Law Review welcomes submissions from both students and legal professionals. Over the years, we have published articles, notes and book reviews on a wide variety of topics including constitutional law, securities regulation, criminal procedure, family law, international law and jurisprudence. Our goal is to contribute to the legal community by publishing articles that highlight current legal issues and changes in the law. For example, in Volume 63 we published a symposium focusing on the legal effects of September 11th. The articles in Volume 64 ranged in topic from the prevention of identity theft and patent litigation settlements to software licensing and the torture of suspected terrorists. Volume 66 included a symposium recognizing the 50th anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education.
Instructions to Authors
The University of Pittsburgh Law Review invites submissions of unsolicited manuscripts. The Law Review requests that manuscripts be accompanied by an abstract of not more than 200 words describing the contents of the article. All manuscripts, including footnotes and endnotes, should be typed and double or triple spaced. All citations should conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (18th ed. 2005). Submitted hard copies of manuscripts cannot be returned except on receipt of $2.50 for postage and handling.
In addition to hard copies, we now accept electronic submissions via the ExpressO electronic submission process, offered by Berkeley Electronic Press. Please do not submit electronic copies directly to the University of Pittsburgh Law Review via our email address.
All requests for expedited review must be e-mailed to lawreview@law.pitt.edu. For expedited review requests, please include within the body of the email: the title of your article, relevant deadline, contact information, and any publications from which you have an outstanding offer.
