About the journal
Language, the official journal for the Linguistic Society of America, is published quarterly and contains articles, short reports, book reviews and book notices on all aspects of linguistics, focussing on the area of theoretical linguistics. Edited by Brian Joseph , Language serves a readership of over 7,000 and has been the primary literary vehicle for the Society since 1924.
Instructions to Authors
Language,the journal of the Linguistic Society of America, carries technical articles dealing with problems of linguistic science, reviews of recently published linguistic works, and notes of interest to professional linguists.
Manuscripts for publication and exchange Journals should be sent to the Editor of Language (Mark Aronoff, Dept. of Linguistics, SUNY, Stony Brook, NY 11794-4376). Books for review should be sent to the Review Editor of Language (Edwin Battistella, School of Arts & Letters, Southern Oregon University, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland, OR 97520). Manuscripts of articles and reviews should be submitted in FOUR ANONYMOUS copies; they will not be returned. Normally at least one author of any article or review article submitted to Language must be a member of the Society.
Manuscript form. Authors of articles submitted to Language are not asked to follow the Language style sheet in preparing their manuscripts for initial submission to Language. There is no restriction on the format of manuscripts, although authors should make their submissions as reader-friendly as possible. Any manuscript, however, that has been accepted for publication as an article will have to be revised so as to conform strictly to the Language style sheet. This policy does not apply to book reviews and book notices. These are all solicited by the Review Editor and they must adhere as closely as possible to the Language style sheet on first submission.
