About the journal
'Signa' is a scholarly online journal, from the 'Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia' (UNED) in Madrid, which takes semiotics as its main focus. Available on the website are issues of the journal dating back to 1992. Broad in scope, the user may access a vast number of articles covering areas of linguistics and literature such as: the theory of semiotics (Bakhtin, Greimas, Jakobson, Peirce, Kristeva); (auto)biographical writing; historical literature; the semiotics of the theatre and cinema; and literature and new technologies. The contributors are primarily Spanish scholars, although contributions are invited from researchers anywhere in the world. Reviews of publications within the field are also available. Although the site lacks a search facility, browsing through the issues is made easy by the site's clear design and layout. This journal is highly recommended for students and researchers working primarily within semiotics in relation to the Spanish language and arts, yet the breadth of the journal's contents will offer much related material of interest.
