About the journal
Established as the leading British periodical for Socio-Legal Studies The Journal of Law and Society offers an interdisciplinary approach. It is committed to achieving a broad international appeal, attracting contributions and addressing issues from a range of legal cultures, as well as theoretical concerns of cross- cultural interest. It produces an annual special issue, which is also published in book form. It has a widely respected Book Review section and is cited all over the world. Challenging, authoritative and topical, the journal appeals to legal researchers and practitioners as well as sociologists, criminologists and other social scientists.
Instructions to Authors

Submission to the Journal of Law and Society is taken as a continuing representation that the article is not under consideration by any other journal. The Editorial Board will not consider for publication articles which are at the time of submission, under consideration elsewhere.
Manuscripts will not be returned unless postage is provided.
Papers in excess of 10,000 words, inclusive of footnotes, will not be considered for publications, nor will papers already under consideration elsewhere. Four copies of the manuscript should be supplied.

Authors receive free of charge 25 offprints and a copy of the issue in which their article appears.
Copyright Assignment Form Authors will be required to assign copyright in their paper to Cardiff University Law School. Copyright assignment is a condition of publication and papers will not be passed to the publisher for production unless copyright has been assigned. To assist authors an appropriate copyright assignment form will be supplied by the editorial office. Alternatively, authors may like to download a copy of the form here. Government employees need to complete the Author Warranty sections, although copyright in such cases does not need to be assigned.
