Authors must bear responsibility for the accuracy of references, tables, and figures. Upon publication of an article, a complimentary copy for each author is sent to the senior author. Send an original and two clean copies of all material. The original should be on good quality white bond; do not use colored, airmail, onion skin, erasable, or other nonstandard papers. Double-space everything, including references and quotations. Allow 1" margins. The title of the article should appear on a separate page that accompanies the manuscript. Include on this page the names of authors followed by a paragraph that repeats the names of authors and gives the institutional affiliation of each. Include an abstract on a separate page. The abstract should clearly summarize the main idea of the manuscript in 50 to 100 words. If it is a esearch article, reference should be made to method, results, and conclusion. Authors should reduce bias in language against persons on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, racial or ethnic group, disability, or age by referring to the guidelines in the fifth edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. Article titles and headings within the article should be as short as possible. ACA style does not use footnotes. Check all references for completeness; provide adequate information to allow the reader to retrieve the referenced material from the most available source. Authors should not submit more than three tables or two figures with each manuscript. Include only essential data and combine tables wherever possible. Each table should be on a separate sheet of paper and should follow the reference section of the article. Final placement of tables is at the discretion of the production editor; tables are placed after the first reference to the table in the text. Long quotations (generally 30000 cumulative words or more from one source) require written permission from the copyright holder for reproduction. Adaptation of tables and figures also requires reproduction approval from the copyrighted source. It is the author’s responsibility to secure such permission, and a copy of the publisher’s written permission must be provided to the journal editor immediately upon acceptance of the article for publication by ACA. Figures (graphs, illustrations, line drawings) must be supplied by the author as reproducible art of professional quality and must contain no errors. Failure to furnish camera-ready art with the final version of the manuscript may result in the removal of the article from the issue. References, tables, and figures should follow the style of the most recent issue of the Journal or the APA Publication Manual (5th ed., 2001), which is available from the APA Order Department, 750 First St., N.E., Washington, DC 20002-4242. Never submit material for concurrent consideration by another periodical. Authors of accepted manuscripts must send an electronic version of their manuscript on a 3.5 disk. The disk format should be IBM compatible; Macintosh users should save their manuscript file either in MS-DOS or in ASCII format on an IBM-compatible disk. IBM users should save their manuscript file either in ASCII, WordPerfect, or MS Word format. No other file formats will be accepted. The author’s name and the hardware and software used should be clearly written on the diskette label.
