About the journal
The Journal of Early Adolescence publishes articles that increase our understanding of individuals, 10 through 14 years of age, in the life span. The journal is designed to present major theoretical papers, state-of-the-art papers, and current research, as well as reviews of important professional books and early adolescent films and literature. A complete Policy Statement and information about submissions are available from the Editor.
Instructions to Authors
Manuscripts should be submitted electronically in Word (preferred), Word Perfect, or WordPro format to Alexander T. Vazsonyi, Editor, JOURNAL OF EARLY ADOLESCENCE, Auburn University, Dept. of Human Development and Family Studies, 284 Spidle Hall, Auburn, AL 36849 (jea@auburn.edu <mailto:jea@auburn.edu>). Please contact the editorial office if you are unable to submit the manuscript electronically or have other questions about the submission process. Also, please limit the number of e-mail attachments to three: the cover letter, the manuscript, and figures. Each file name attached should include the lead author's last name.
Submissions will be acknowledged by a return e-mail within a 3-week period; if you do not receive an acknowledgment, please contact the editorial office. Submissions must include the names, affiliation, mailing address, telephone number, fax number, and e-mail address from each author on the title page. In addition, the title page must include 3 to 5 key terms.
In general, manuscripts should not exceed 25-30 typed (brief reports should not exceed 20 pages), double-spaced pages including references, tables, and figures. Text and references must conform to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (Fifth Edition). Each manuscript should also include an abstract (100-150 words). Papers that do not conform to these guidelines will be returned to the author(s). Submission of a manuscript implies commitment to publish in JEA. Authors submitting manuscripts to the journal should not simultaneously submit them to another journal, nor should manuscripts have been published elsewhere in substantially similar form or with substantially similar content. Authors in doubt about what constitutes prior publication should consult the editor.
