About the journal
The Journal of Aging Studies features scholarly papers offering new interpretations that challenge existing theory and empirical work. Articles need not deal with the field of aging as a whole, but with any defensibly relevant topic pertinent to the aging experience and related to the broad concerns and subject matter of the social and behavioral sciences and the humanities. The Journal emphasizes innovation and critique-new directions in general-regardless of theoretical or methodological orientation, or academic discipline. Critical, empirical, or theoretical contributions are welcome.

Manuscript Preparation Type the manuscript with ample margins, using double spacing throughout, including the reference section, and organized as follows.

Please notify the editor of any change of address that occurs while an article is in the process of publication. 2. Abstract : Include an abstract of 150 words or less. 3. Text : Follow the style guide of the American Sociological Association (ASA), a short version of which is available at http://www.asanet.org/apap/quickstyle.html. 4. Section Headings : All major section headings (level 1) should be typed in the same font and style, so that it is apparent that they head major sections. Likewise, other descriptive subheadings, which may be used if appropriate, should be typed in their own same font and style (e.g., all level 2 headings should appear the same and be distinguishable from level 1 headings, from level 3 headings, etc.). 5. Acknowledgments : Acknowledgment of grant support and/or individuals who were of direct help in the preparation of the paper, as well as information regarding previous symposium presentations of the paper, should appear into a separate section titled "Acknowledgments." 6. Notes : Notes should be numbered sequentially in the text and their contents typed as a separate section entitled "Notes." Notes should be kept to a minimum and used only for substantive observations. Source citations are made within the text, not in the notes. 7. References : Follow the ASA reference style. Identify all source references at the appropriate point in the text by the author/date system, such as (Hazan 1980), and list the references at the end of the manuscript in alphabetical order, double spaced. All references that are cited in the text must appear in the reference list and vice versa. Examples follow. Book: Hazan, Haim. 1980. The Limbo People. London: Routledge & Kegan Paul. Article: Bonnesen, Jaye L. and Elisabeth O. Burgess. 2004. "Senior Moments: The Acceptability of an Ageist Phrase." Journal of Aging Studies 18: 123-42. Chapter: Lock, Margaret. 2002.
