About the journal
The Hitotsubashi Journal of Economics is published twice annually for the purpose of supporting and encouraging research by the faculty members of Hitotsubashi University.
The Journal may consider unsolicited manuscripts and communications by non faculty-members for possible publication. Papers which are closely related to those already published in the Journal or papers which concern empirical, theoretical and/or historical aspects of the Japanese economy are especially welcome.
Authors submitting a manuscript do so on the understanding that if it is accepted for publication, copyright of the article, including the right to reproduce the article in all forms and media, shall be assigned exclusively to Hitotsubashi University. Hitotsubashi University will not refuse any reasonable request by the author for permission to reproduce any of his or her contributions to the Journal. All those considering submissions should consult Instructions to Authors printed on the inside of the back cover.
Copies are distributed to academic institutions in exchange for publications of a similar nature. Individuals may subscribe to this Journal through the following agents. |
Instructions to Authors 1. Submission of a paper will be held to imply that it contains original unpublished work and is not being submitted for publication elsewhere. The editors do not accept responsibility for damage or loss of papers submitted.
2. Submit manuscripts in triplicate typed on one side of paper with margins of at least one inch on all sides, using double-spacing throughout. Number each page. References, tables and frgures should be typed on separate sheets. The total number of pages should not exceed 30.
3. The first page of the manuscripts should contain the following information: (i) the title; (ii) the name(s) and complete affiliation(s) [including e-mail address(es) if available] of the author(s); (iii) an abstract of not more than 100 words. The abstract will appear at the beginning of the article in the journal and will be used in bibliographic information services provided by the American Economic Association.
4. The first page of the manuscript should also contain at least one classification code according to the Classification System for Journal Articles as used by the Journal of Economic Literature; in addition, up to five key words should be supplied.
5. Acknowledgements and information on grants received can be given before the References.
6. Footnotes should be kept to a minimum and be numbered consecutively throughout the text with super- script in arabic numerals. All graphs and diagrams should be referred to as figures and should be numbered consecutively in the text in arabic numerals. Tables should be numbered consecutively in the text in arabic numerals and typed on separate sheets.
7. Where the derivation of formulae has been abbreviated, it is of great help to referees if the full derivation can be presented on a separate sheet (not to be published).
8. The References should include only the most relevant papers. In the text, references to publications should appear as follows: "Samuelson (1950a) reported that..." or "This problem has been a subject in literature before [e.g., Samuelson (1950b, p.360)]. The author should make sure there is a strict "one-to-one correspondence" between the names (years) in the text and those on the list. At the end of the manuscripts (after any appendices), the complete references should be listed as follows:
