About the journal

China: An International Journal focuses on contemporary China, including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, covering the fields of politics, economics, society, geography, law, culture and international relations.
While established China scholars are the main target of CIJ, the editors hope the Journal will be of particular interest to new China scholars just beginning their careers.
CIJ is published every March and September.
CIJ is indexed/abstracted by the Social Sciences Citation Index®, Journal Citation Reports/Social Sciences Edition, Current Contents®/Social and Behavioral Sciences, International Bibliography of Social Sciences (IBSS), Bibliography of Asian Studies (BAS) and EconLit.
Instructions to Authors We invite the submission of theoretically- and empirically-based research articles (up to 10,000 words including footnotes) on contemporary China, including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, in the fields of politics, economics, society, geography, law, culture and international relations. Review articles (10,000-word review, including footnotes, of 3 or more books on the same topic), as well as policy comments and research notes (up to 5,000 words including footnotes) are also welcome.
Manuscripts oriented towards East Asian specialists are preferred, but pieces written for a wider audience will also be considered. Submissions should be fully documented. Once accepted, all footnotes must conform to the CIJ stylesheet which can be downloaded here.
