Author Guidelines

Communication Theory Electronic Office -click here to submit or review a paper for the journal.

Communication Theory publishes research articles, theoretical essays, and reviews on topics of broad theoretical interest from across the range of communication studies. Essays, regardless of topic or methodological approach, must make a significant contribution to communication theory. Data-based papers are appropriate only insofar as they advance new theoretical developments in communication. Communication Theory recognizes that approaches to theory development and explication are diverse. No single approach or set of approaches is privileged.

Authors should submit their manuscripts online. Please visit http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/comth and, if you do not already have an account and password, click on Create Account in the upper right side of the screen. You will then be guided through the submission process by following step-by-step instructions. Manuscripts must conform to the specifications of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 5th ed., and authors should verify that the reference list is complete and in appropriate form. Additional guidelines for manuscript preparation may be found on the ICA website, www.icahdq.org.

It is a condition of publication in Communication Theory that authors assign copyright to the International Communication Association. However all requests for permission to reproduce should be sent to Blackwell Publishing at journalsrights@oxon.blackwellpublishing.com. This ensures that requests from third parties to reproduce articles are handled efficiently and consistently, and will also allow the article to be as widely disseminated as possible.

Communication Theory
