Information for Contributors
Initially, papers and cases are to be submitted for review as an e-mail attachment to David Famiano (dfamiano@wiley.com). Microsoft Word format is preferred; PDF files are acceptable. All other correspondence should be addressed to Publisher, Professional/Trade Division, c/o John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 111 River Street, Hoboken, NJ 07030-5774.
Submission of a manuscript for review implies that the paper has not been published, that it is not being submitted for publication elsewhere, and that it has been released for publication if the work reported is officially sponsored.
Manuscripts. All submissions should include a cover page and separate pages for the abstract, tables, figures, footnotes, and appendices. The abstract should contain 125-150 words on a separate page. The cover page should include the article title, as well as complete contact information for the corresponding author, including name, address, telephone number, fax number, and e-mail address. If the manuscript has multiple authors, one person should be designated as the contact author. Pages should be double-spaced, single-column format, numbered consecutively after the abstract page, and formatted with at least one-inch margins on all four sides. Submission is optional, but case teaching notes should be available upon request.
Manuscript Guidelines for Manuscripts ACCEPTED for Publication after Review
Articles officially accepted for publication by the editors must be submitted to the managing editor on disk or CD Rom, along with signed copyright transfer agreements from all authors/co-authors. Copies of this agreement are reprinted in selected issues of the journal and may also be obtained from the managing editor or the publisher, as well as the journal's Web site. In the case of a "work made for hire," the agreement must be signed by the employer. A signed copyright transfer agreement, which serves as a transfer of copyright from author to publisher, is required before a manuscript can be published. It is the author's responsibility to obtain written permission to reproduce material that has appeared in another publication. Manuscripts must adhere to the manuscript format and style described in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5th edition).
Authors will receive typeset proofs that must be corrected and returned within 48 hours. No new material may be inserted in the text at the proofreading stage. A reprint order form is enclosed with the proofs. This form should be completed and returned with the proofs to the publisher.
Figures. Figures should be cited within the manuscript and placed at the end of the paper with each figure on its own page and printed in camera-ready quality for reproduction in the journal. They should not be embedded within the body of the paper. Figures should be provided as high-resolution TIFF or EPS (with preview) files, one for each figure.
Tables. Tables should be cited within the manuscript and placed at the end of the paper with each table on its own page. They should not be embedded within the body of the paper.
Footnotes. The use of footnotes should be avoided. If the author feels that a footnote would clarify, extend a point, or improve the readability of the text, a few footnotes may be included, but never for reference sources. Footnotes should be double-spaced on a separate page and be numbered consecutively throughout the text.
References. Literature references should be indicated in text by the name of the author and the year of the publication: "Smith (1982) has indicated that this approach is feasible; however, other reports are not as sanguine (Corruthers & Wayne, 1983; Smith, Jones, Hale, & Wesson, 1981)." References are to be arranged in alphabetical order at the end of the body of the paper, beginning on a separate page. Examples follow:

Style. On all matters of style, including treatment of references, the Journal requests authors to follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5th ed.).
Please return your signed forms and final, revised manuscript on disk as well as a printout of the final article to the Publisher (David Famiano, Editor, Professional and Trade Subscription Content, John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Jossey-Bass, A Wiley Imprint, 989 Market Street, 5th Floor San Francisco, CA 94103; Phone: 415.782.3158; Fax: 415.951.8553). The hard copy must match the disk. The Journal of Interactive Marketing requires authors to deliver the final, revised version of their accepted manuscripts (text, tables, and figures) on disk or CD-ROM. This will maintain the integrity of your keystrokes and expedite typesetting. Please return the submission form below with your manuscript and labeled disk/CD Rom. Please return the disk submission form below with your manuscript and labeled disk/CD-ROM.
Storage medium. 3-1/2" high-density disk in IBM MS-DOS, Windows, or Macintosh format. CD-ROM disks and Iomega Zip disks may be needed to store larger files. At authors' request, disks will be returned after publication.
Labels. Label all disks with your name, the file name, and the word processing program and version used.
Text Software and format. Microsoft Word 97, Microsoft Word 2000 format, and later versions are acceptable, as well as manuscripts prepared with any other microcomputer word processor. PDF is not acceptable for final manuscript submission. Refrain from complex formatting; the publisher will style your manuscript according to the journal design specifications. Do not use desktop publishing software such as PageMaker or Quark XPress. If you prepared your manuscript with one of these programs, export the text to a word processing format. Please make sure your word processing program's "fast save" feature is turned off. Please do not deliver files that contain hidden text: for example, do not use your word processor's automated features to create footnotes or reference lists. If the track changes tool was used, accept all changes and save them before submitting the manuscript.
File names. Submit the text and tables of each manuscript as a single file. Name each file with your last name (up to eight letters). Text files should be given the three-letter extension that identifies the file format.
Illustrations Software and format. All illustration files should be in TIFF or EPS (with preview) formats. Do not submit native application formats. Submit as separate files from text files and on separate disks. If feasible, full color files should be submitted on separate disks from other image files. All print reproduction requires files for full color images to be in a CMYK color space. If possible, ICC or ColorSync profiles of your output device should accompany all digital image submissions.
Resolution. Journal quality reproduction will require gray scale and color files at resolutions yielding approximately 300 ppi. Bitmapped line art should be submitted at resolutions yielding 600-1200 ppi. These resolutions refer to the output size of the file; if you anticipate that your images will be enlarged or reduced, resolutions should be adjusted accordingly.
File names. Illustration files should be given the three-letter extension that identifies the file format used (i.e., .tif, .eps).
