About the journal
Social Work Research publishes exemplary research to advance the development of knowledge and inform social work practice. Widely regarded as the outstanding journal in the field, it includes analytic reviews of research, theoretical articles pertaining to social work research, evaluation studies, and diverse research studies that contribute to knowledge about social work issues and problems.
Instructions to Authors
Each manuscript is reviewed by at least three reviewers in an anonymous process. Authors should submit five copies of manuscripts. All copy, including references, tables, and figure captions, should be typed double-spaced. Although the NASW press requests computer disks when manuscripts are accepted, it is not necessary to submit a disk initially. Editorial boards have requested that the staff of the NASW press return any manuscripts of 25 pages or more unreviewed. Send manuscripts to:

Manuscripts published by NASW may not be published elsewhere without written permission from NASW. Requests for permission to reprint should include full information about the purpose, quantity, and price to be charged for the requested use. In some instances, persons wishing to photocopy a work may use the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) without applying directly to NASW. All NASW journals are entered for photocopying permission with CCC. The CCC code, which appears at the bottom of the first page of journal articles, identifies the work for CCC. For personal or internal use beyond that considered "fair use," photocopying is contingent upon proper reporting and payment to CCC or the written permission of the National Association of Social Workers. If a work is photocopied, the per copy fee indicated in the CCC code should be forwarded, along with a copy of the page on which it appears, to:
