About the journal

Research in the Teaching of English (RTE) is a multidisciplinary journal composed of original research and scholarly essays on the relationships between language teaching and learning at all levels, preschool through adult. Articles reflect a variety of methodologies and address issues of pedagogical relevance related to the content, context, process, and evaluation of language learning.
Published August, November, February, and May.


Instructions to Authors

Manuscripts should be no longer than 40 pages in length, exclusive of tables, figures, and references, and should be written in Times New Roman 12 pt. font or equivalent. Send an electronic copy of your manuscript to HideAddr('RTE-Submissions','ucr.edu','">'); HideAddr('RTE-Submissions','ucr.edu',''); RTE-Submissions@ucr.edu and also submit two double-sided hard copies to:

Each manuscript will receive a masked review by three established researchers.  RTE articles follow the form outlined in the fifth edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. Manuscripts that do not follow the APA guidelines will need to be reformatted if accepted for publication. Manuscripts should be accompanied by a cover letter that includes the author's name, institutional affiliation, home and work telephone numbers, mailing address, fax number, and e-mail address. Email is our preferred way of maintaining contact with authors. The cover letter should include a statement that the manuscript has not been submitted simultaneously to RTE and to other journals.
