Justice Quarterly (JQ) is the official journal of ACJS. JQ a refereed, multi-disciplinary journal featuring articles on criminal justice and related issues. Providing articles on qualitative and quantitative research in the area of criminal justice and book review essays, JQ is indexed in Criminology and Penology Abstracts, Police Science Abstracts, Criminal Justice Periodical Index, and Criminal Justice Abstracts. In the past decade, JQ has become a premier journal and it continues to be a major forum for crime-related scholarship, making it an essential part of any library's holdings.

The JQ Publisher: Effective January 2005, JQ is published by Routledge Journals under full editorial control of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. The Journal will continue to be published with four issues per annual volume.
Subscriptions to JQ: An individual subscription is part of the benefit of regular, institutional, lifetime, and sustaining membership in the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. Student members may choose to receive the journals by paying extra dues to receive the ACJS journals. Membership to ACJS is available at http://www.acjs.org/signup
ACJS members and institutional subscribers to the print version of the Journal through Routledge Journals, are provided online access to the current and complete back archive of the electronic version of JQ free of charge.
ACJS institutional membership is reserved for institutions of higher education offering a bona fide two-year, four-year, or graduate criminal justice degree program or with a criminal justice research institute. Institutional members shall designate one member of their faculty or administration as a regular member. This designee receives the member subscription. When a university’s organizational system includes multiple campuses, each campus must individually apply for institutional membership if it houses a separately administered program or institute.
Libraries must obtain Institutional Subscriptions through Routledge Journals. Libraries are not eligible for institutional membership in ACJS. 2005 Institutional Subscription Rate for Justice Quarterly is: US$385; ?33 (UK or Republic of Ireland only); post free.

Guidelines for Submission of Manuscripts ?Instructions for Authors
Editorial Policy Justice Quarterly is a multidisciplinary journal that publishes theoretical contributions and empirical studies on issues of crime and justice. We welcome articles from authors trained in all disciplines applying various methodologies to the study of crime and the justice system.
Manuscript Submission Justice Quarterly will consider only original manuscripts not published previously or currently under consideration. Please submit a submission letter including contact information (address, telephone number, e-mail), four (4) copies of your manuscript, a computer disk in Word format, and a processing fee of $10.00 (checks should be made out to ACJS). The review process normally takes less than 12 weeks. Your manuscript should be double-spaced, preferably less than 40 pages (including tables, references, and appendices), and conform to the APA referencing system.
Tables or figures must not be embedded in the text, but the approximate location should be indicated within the text file as etc. Tables should be grouped at the end of the text file. Figures should be supplied as separate files, preferably TIFF or JPG, saved to a high resolution. The location of the image should be indicated in the text file, as for tables.

Proofs Proofs are sent to the corresponding author as PDF files via email where possible. Please note that proofs are supplied for correction of errors only, and no rewriting or reorganization of text can be undertaken at this stage. Corrections should be returned within 3 days.
Offprints Corresponding authors can receive their article by e-mail as a complete PDF, to print up to 50 copies, free of charge, and disseminate them to colleagues. Paper offprints are available if preferred. A copy of the journal will be sent by mail to all corresponding authors after publication.
Clearing Permissions Authors are responsible for obtaining permission from copyright holders to reproduce in both print and online form those illustrations, tables, figures or lengthy quotations previously published elsewhere. Permission must be obtained before submission to the publisher. The acknowledgment should be added to the typescript and the source and copyright of photographs or figures credited in the accompanying captions.
Copyright It is a condition of publication that authors vest or license copyright in their articles, including abstracts, in the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. This enables us to ensure full copyright protection and to disseminate the article, and the journal, to the widest possible readership in print and electronic formats as appropriate. Authors may, of course, use the material elsewhere after publication providing that prior permission is obtained from Taylor & Francis Group Ltd. Authors are themselves responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources.
