About the journal

Publishing the Journal of the Copyright Society of the U.S.A. (formerly known as the Bulletin of the Copyright Society of the USA), has been a principal activity of The Society since its inception. The Journal is published several times a year, with articles chosen by an Editorial Board comprised of some of the leading teachers and practitioners of the law of copyright.

The Journal is among the authoritative U.S. publications on copyright, the subject to which it is exclusively devoted. Each issue includes articles on significant subjects, notes and summaries of domestic and foreign legislative and administrative developments, and news of important court decisions throughout the world. The Journal also publishes bibliographic data on books, articles and other data from law reviews, related periodicals and trade publications, and contains announcements of interest to the copyright field including news and notices from the Copyright Office.

The Journal is circulated among members of the Society as well as institutional, academic, public and governmental libraries throughout the world. The Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Copyright Society of the USA urges members of the Society and others to submit articles for possible publication in the Journal. Articles may deal with any aspect of copyright and may be as brief as 10 pages or as long as 100 pages plus. The review process is expedited.

Upon receipt of the articles, anonymous copies of the article will be reviewed by three members of the Editorial Board. They are expected to submit their recommendation to accept/reject the article within two weeks. The author will be promptly notified of the decision to publish/not publish. It is only with the active involvement of the Society membership that the Journal will maintain its reputation of excellence. For more information or to submit an article, please
contact the Society.

The Copyright Society of the U.S.A. is a center of the U.S. copyright community for business people, lawyers in private practice and in-house, law professors and law students who share a common interest in copyright and related intellectual property rights. A not-for-profit corporation founded in 1953, the Society works to advance the study and understanding of copyright law and related rights, the scope of rights in literature, music, art, theater, motion picture, television, computer software, architecture, and other works of authorship, and their distribution via both traditional and new media.

The Society provides outstanding opportunities for interaction with all facets of the copyright law community. The Society holds national
events such as The Brace Lecture, Annual Meeting, and Mid-Winter Meeting. In addition, its eleven regional Chapters conduct events in their respective areas. The Society also publishes the Journal of the Copyright Society of the U.S.A., promotes Copyright Awareness in schools, and awards the annual Seton Award.
