About the journal

Journal of Personality publishes scientific investigations in the field of personality. It focuses particularly on personality and behavior dynamics, personality development, and individual differences in the cognitive, affective, and interpersonal domains. The journal reflects and stimulates interest in the growth of new theoretical and methodological approaches in personality psychology.

Instructions to Authors

The Journal is devoted to scientific investigations in the field of personality. We welcome studies of personality and behavior dynamics, personality development, and individual differences in the cognitive, affective, and interpersonal domains. The scope of the Journal is not fixed, however, and it is intended to reflect all areas of significant current research. Articles ought to make a substantial empirical contribution. Literature reviews, theoretical papers, and articles concerned exclusively with test construction or validation will ordinarily not be considered. In style, particularly in respect to citations, form of bibliographies, preparation of tables and figures, etc., manuscripts submitted should conform with the conventions adopted for periodicals published by the American Psychological Association (see the Publication Manual, fifth edition). Authors should submit a CD or an IBM based disk and 2 copies of all contributions, which remain the property of the Journal to:

Journal of Personality is covered by Blackwell Publishing's OnlineEarly service.  OnlineEarly articles are complete full-text articles published online in advance of their publication in a printed issue.  Articles are therefore available as soon as they are ready, rather than having to wait for the next scheduled print issue.  OnlineEarly articles are complete and final.  They have been fully reviewed, revised, and edited for publication, and the authors' final corrections have been incorporated.  Because they are in final form, no changes can be made after online publication.  The nature of OnlineEarly articles means that they do not yet have volume, issue, or page numbers, so OnlineEarly articles cannot be cited in the traditional way.  They are therefore given a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), which allows the article to be cited and tracked before it is allocated to an issue. After print publication, the DOI remains valid and can continue to be used to cite an access the article.

Instructions for ordering offprints from the printer will be provided with page proofs
