About the journal
The Journal of Contemporary Ethnography is an international and interdisciplinary forum for research using ethnographic methods to examine human behavior in natural settings.
JCE brings you relevant material that examines a broad spectrum of social interactions and practices in subcultures, cultures, organizations, and societies from a variety of academic disciplines including, but not limited to, Anthropology, Communications, Criminal Justice, Education, Health Studies, Management, Marketing, and Sociology.

Instructions to Authors
For over 30 years, the Journal of Contemporary Ethnography has been recognized as a top outlet for high quality ethnographic research. Published 6x /year, the Journal of Contemporary Ethnography (JCE) is an international, interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal for sociological research that uses ethnographic methods to analyze social life as it occurs in specific social contexts. JCE focuses on empirical studies based on ethnographic methods such as participant-observation, unobtrusive observation, intensive interviewing, contextualized discourse analysis, and field sampling.
Journal of Contemporary Ethnography invites researchers to submit original articles, reviews, or special issue proposals to the editor. JCE welcomes submissions from all social sciences, especially
Anthropology Communication Studies Criminal Justice and Criminology Education Gerontology Health Studies Management Marketing Race and Ethnic Studies Religion Studies Sociology Women's Studies All submissions will be peer reviewed by two or more members of the distinguished, multi-disciplinary editorial board. JCE aims to have all papers go through their initial review within three months of receipt.
Manuscripts should be submitted electronically (preferred method) in any IBM-compatible format or with four copies of the manuscript. Use Chicago Manual of Style, 14th Edition style, double-spacing, and include references, tables, footnotes, etc .and a short informative abstract of approximately 100 words. To ensure anonymity, keep all identifying information out of the text. The abstract and manuscript are sent to reviewers and therefore should contain only the title. Manuscripts will not be returned. Also, enclose with your submission (a) a cover page giving authorship and each author's institutional affiliation, address, phone and fax numbers, and e-mail address; (b) a check or money order for US $10 made payable to the Journal of Contemporary Ethnography; and (c) if submitting in a paper format, please include a stamped, self-addressed postcard so that the receipt of your manuscript can be acknowledged.
Upon a decision to publish a manuscript, authors will be asked to submit a computer disk (any IBM-compatible format) or paper manuscript with camera-ready figures and a brief biographical statement.
